    Cool Portland Mercury cover

Anyone in Portland, OR see this? The models actually seem to have good trigger discipline.... Interesting idea, combining guns and fashion. Keep Portland weird!

"Most displeased with gun" part 2

Most displeased: Auto-Ordnance GI-spec 1911. Jammed about once a magazine, with 230-grain FMJ ammo. Absolutely refused to chamber any type of JHP. Most pleased: Glock 26. Fits my hand very well, has never jammed. Comfortable to carry all day with a decent Galco IWB holster. Close 2nd...

What is the biggest POS you ever shot?

Auto-Ordnance GI-spec 1911. It would jam with 230-grain FMJ, wouldn't chamber a hollowpoint if your life depended on it. Fun to shoot when it worked, just poor quality control at the factory.

    What ammo didn't sell out?

All the local stores sold out of 9mm, .45, .380, plus the standard rifle calibers. They couldn't give away the 100-rd cases of Federal #8 12 gauge, though.

    Importance of using a holster

Hillsboro man with loaded handgun arrested while testifying in court By Bill Oram, The Oregonian January 13, 2010, 8:01PM Guns are mainstays in courtrooms, as any faithful Perry Mason fan can tell you. They're in the belts of deputies, they're submitted as evidence. They're usually not...

NSSF warns of threat to ammunition availability, calls for action

I'm not seeing the problem, my local Bi-mart has a good supply of just about every brand and caliber, a little shortage of JHPs, but that's it. Plenty of inexpensive handgun and rifle ammo.

    Internet Buying and Selling?

I've mostly sold guns through Gunbroker, and it's an awesome site. Only one bad experience, just someone who didn't contact me, ever, after winning an auction. You usually get a fair price for what you're selling, and it's easy to set up and use.

Whats the best lie you had a gun seller tell you

I was in a local bi-Mart the other day, had the sporting goods counter guy tell me that Mini-14s were really accurate guns, just as good as any AR. He went on to say that he wouldn't give a plug nickel for "them Savages, Remingtons, they ain't very accurate", and how his Ruger is the most...

    Best Gun Store Purchase Surprise?

I was poking around a backwoods gun shop, didn't really see anything I wanted, then I happened to see a rack of guns against the very back wall. Picked an old mil-surp off the third rung, the tag said "Swedish Mauser". Carl Gustav, made in 1900, shiny bore, furniture a little bit banged up...

    Fender Bender

Posted at http://turonistan.blogspot.com/2009/07/fender-bender.html In Philadelphia last August, there was a 3:00 AM fender-bender between two motorists who had valid CCW permits, and both were armed. Nothing happened. There were some angry words exchanged, but no shots were fired and no...

    This oughtta be a felony...

I don't mind someone tricking out a rifle or handgun with excessive paint, shiny bits, whatever. It's when they permanently damage/modify a classic firearm that cannot be replaced. It would be like taking a classic car and putting big rims on it, with a spoiler, ground effects, noisy muffler...

    This oughtta be a felony...

<rant> Some joker put jewelry on a Swede Mauser. JEWELRY?!! I mean, the fake rubies super-glued to the stock were bad enough, but the chain hanging off the sling swivel? What was he smoking? </rant> :fire: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=135234596

I getting out of the military soon, how is oregon? in terms of pro firearms

For all it's faults, I still love living in Oregon. I'm in Yamhill County, which is only 45 minutes away from the coast, a half hour away from the capital, and only a hour or so from the Portland/Tigard/Beaverton metro area. The weather is pretty awesome most of the time, and the folks are...
