    If You Were Glock CEO....

Glock may have a low bore axis, but not as low as an Alien or an RIA 5.0. The reviews I have seen on these pistols is that there is not much barrel jump. Also, the purpose of a rotating barrel is often to reduce felt recoil. See the attached Bing Search. The general theory these days is to get...

    If You Were Glock CEO....

Get rid of that stupid grip angle. Get rid of that awful trigger. Make the gun so that it can be taken apart without pulling the trigger, or without using those stupid little tabs. Make something more melted that conceals better, rather than that stupid brick looking thing. How about something...

Highly Disappointed in "The Daily Beast"

Hello short barrel. To be clear, the online publication The Daily Beast is the group that deleted my comment, and not NPR. I actually appreciate NPR's international news, though I will agree, in my opinion, they have a left wing bias. As I said, I like to collect news from many different places...

Highly Disappointed in "The Daily Beast"

I liked The Daily Beast on Facebook because I like to get my news from a variety of sources. I know they probably have a bias, but all news sources do; that's why I like a variety. Fox News AND NPR... Yesterday they had an article by Cliff Schecter, called "AK-47's, Now Made in America. The...

Help Me Understand So I Don't Be A Fudd

I have not read the whole thread, so if my argument is out of place, I apologize. I view licensing of firearms the same way I view another right: voting. Lots of stupid people vote. When stupid people vote, sometimes we get bad leaders, and sometimes as a result people are killed in the cogs...

    Savage 110 barrels

Just bought a cheap old Savage 110 in .270. I would like to rebarrel to a stainless 6.5x55 Swedish. Who sells good barrels at reasonable prices?

    I wish someone would make . . .

I stand corrected. I was thinking about all the 9mm Norincos, but you are right: the .45acp is closer in length than the 9mm

    I wish someone would make . . .

"bigfatdave," you may be on to something. A 7.62x25 conversion barrel for an XDs 9mm would be the cat's pajamas.

    I wish someone would make . . .

Polymer framed, striker fired Tokarev with modern safety features. Powerful, decent capacity, light weight, and thin for CCW.

Well, it finally happened (Saiga import ban)

To clarify: Sam Cade, are you saying that they are still importing Saiga firearms? I checked the Treasury link that you mentioned, but I could not tell.

Wall Street Journal on Mass Shootings

Rather than citing people from this message board, though, you can now cite scientists who describe how criminal mass shooters feed off of irresponsible reporting. Also, I think it makes more sense to start dwelling on the "irresponsible reporting" aspect than on the "cops in our schools"...

Wall Street Journal on Mass Shootings

Here is a very good article from the Wall Street Journal talking about the psychology behind mass shooters, and how a change in how the shootings are reported could reduce the number of mass shootings. http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303309504579181702252120052

    "Possibily" Stupid Fireams Quotes ?

I don't remember if it were an English writer or not. I suppose that is possible. Still lots of mess ups, though.

    "Possibily" Stupid Fireams Quotes ?

I was in a gun store a few years ago. An obese, uniformed police officer from a nearby small town was in the same store. An older, disabled man went up to the officer and asked him a discreet question. I did not hear what. As I walked by, though, I heard the officer explain that if you shoot...

    The Sound Barrier

I'm not sure if this is a gun question exactly, but hear this out. When you go back and read about Chuck Yeager, they keep repeating that they were not sure Yeager could survive going faster than the speed of sound. They thought he might smash against a wall, or come apart. Didn't they...

Any room for improvement in revolvers?

Instead of a cylinder, think of a circular magazine, sort of like the old Tommy guns or Johnson rifles, but removable. After the magazine is empty, take it out and pop in a new one. The "revolving" happens inside a circular can. You might even be able to have a wind up spring in the magazine...

How much does energy matter in SD situations

From "Shooting to Live" by W.E. Fairbairn & E.A. Sykes "Turning now to the high velocity small caliber weapons, we have seen terrible damage caused by a Mauser automatic, caliber 7.63 mm., of military pattern. We have in mind the case of a man who was hit in the arm by a solid full-jacketed...

How much does energy matter in SD situations

Are the more "energetic" calibers better at breaking large bones like femurs and pelvises, or penetrating an upper arm to get into a ribcage? Do the higher energy calibers provide more of a shock to an attacker's system?
