Fun chilly match with M1 Garand today

“What’s that chambered in?” Lol, as the kids say. When people ask me about the 30-06, I tell them, “With today’s bullets, it’s made the 300 H&H obsolete.” I get a lot of nods and vacuous looks. Best round ever.

    .35 Remington handloads are keyholing

GeoDude beat me to it, but good advice.

    .35 Remington handloads are keyholing

Your loads seem consistent with the Hodgdon data, and you cleaned the barrel. Good starting places. Did your cleaning include a good de-coppering? Otherwise, you might have to start looking at the crown or the rifling.

Seeking opinions on the purchase of a new 270…Bergara B14 Timber, Weatherby Vanguard II or Winchester M70 Featherweight?

If your main concern is bench accuracy, get the Bergara. If you're looking for a decently lightweight hunting rifle, get the Winchester. I'm not familiar with all the Bergara variants, but the ones I've picked up in the store were pretty hefty. Same for the Vanguard, at least the .243 Win...

Ruger American Rimfire - Tall scope mount that leaves Tech Sights useable?

If you make both work, basically you'll be faced with two mostly unusable systems. I understand the attraction of what you're after, but I think I would do something on the order of the Talley rear peep https://www.talleymanufacturing.com/product/peep-site/ that fits on their bases, and then...

    Tikka L55 barrel twist

If you have a cleaning rod with a rotating handle and a bore brush, you can check it pretty quick (but you may know that already) You should post a picture though.

    Safe to continue using this?

Not an gunsmith, but my vote would be for OK. Distal on the barrel like that; yeah, I'd put a new block on it and shoot.

    Strange Range Pickup...........

H & K rifles have chambers that do this, or at least some. Maybe a CETME too?

    Shotgun Etiquette

I think my favorite statement in this thread is something on the order of people who use the word "shotty" sound like "mall ninjas." We all have a lexicon; probably shouldn't worry about it too much. (But I get it)

New Winchester Model 70 30-06 feed problem with Remington Core Lokt SP 180gr (round nose)

So, I have five Winchester M70's. This in no way makes me any type of expert, but I've used the heck out that action. As long as I fully retract the bolt on my rifles, they operate great. Your conundrum is this, as I see it: you have one bullet type/ammo that just doesn't work. Sounds like...

    Need info about Blasers

Carried a R93 in Namibian PG hunt in 2015, and a R8 in 2018 They are a slick set-up, great triggers, very pricey, proprietary scope attachments which makes it expensive again. The scope attachment does work as advertised. Minor complaints about mine: If you slowly work the action, and don't...

    Kimber 8400 Classic Not Safe

Personally, I would try to replicate what's going on with a resized case and no primer, then same with a spent primer, then same with a bullet seated appropriately and no powder. Should be able to hear the pin fall and watch the rear of the pin fall as well. Odd situation for sure. Edit...

    Recommend A Shooting Sling

If you don't want to add a stud and want something that will be both a shooting aid and a carrying strap, Andy's would be probably the best choice, with a M1907 being an option. I have messed with a Montana sling a little bit to see if it could be pressed into service as a shooting aid, but...

Leupold VX3i for Tikka 270 yea or nay?

Here's what I mean: besides the weight, a bit long. The "after" rifle has a Bell and Carlson stock too. I'm sure, with the generous eye relief, I could have moved the Zeiss forward a bit, but the Leopold just fits.

Leupold VX3i for Tikka 270 yea or nay?

For what you are describing your hunting style, consider the Leupold 2.5-8 VX-3i scope too. Very light for a variable, and it fits the T3 very well. That's how I have mine set up. Oddly, I had the Zeiss conquest 3-9 mounted first, but found it too heavy and too long for purpose. Very nice...
