So, what is the correct way to clean after the use of corrosive ammo? The last time I used the 91/30 I first used windex, dried everything as best I could and then followed with a "normal" cleaning with solvent and oil and such. Does this sound ok or is the something else that should be done?
I have a new .22-250 that needs a scope and I think I have decided on one of these two. Both are around $250, the Leupold is 4-12x40 and the Bushnell is 5-15x40. Is there any reason I should buy one over the other? I have asked this question here before but I haven't thought about it much in the...
Hello,
Is there a way to tell if a rifle is controlled round feeding or push feed by looking at the action or the bolt? If there isn't what are my Mosin Nagant 91/30 and Ruger M77 MKII? What about the Remington M700? What are advantages of one over the other? Thanks in advance for you responses.
I have one of the guns that Vern Humphrey mentioned and I really like it. Both of the deer I have shot at with it made their way to my freezer. The bullets were 129 gr handloads (from a neighbor). I have also shot quite a few groundhogs with 87gr (I think) bullets. The few people I know that...
While not the most considerate, the most trouble free solution would be to either kill the dog or catch it and take it to the pound yourself without letting the owner know. If you talk to the owner first, and the owner doesn't take care of the problem, and then you end up having to shoot it...
Has anyone ever done business with this site? Their Leupold prices seem very low but I haven't ever heard anything about them. The fact that they also sell Sony computers doesn't instill a lot of confidence but I could be wrong. What do you think?

Hello,
I received a new rifle for Christmas and I need some advice on which scope to buy. I am looking for something up to $250. I know that is kinda cheap but I really don't want to spend much more than this on a groundhog gun. I have looked at the Leupold VX-1 and also Swift scopes. I was...
Thanks for all of the responses. I now have a question about the pivoting model. Is there some kind of tension adjustement? If not how likely is it that the whole thing will eventually wear to the point that it is no longer stable?
Hello, I have a couple of questions about Harris Bipods. First, which model is the correct size for using while sitting? I am guessing the one that opens to around 2'. Second, how big and awkward are they when they are folded up? Also do you guys recommend another brand? Thanks.
I should have mentioned in the first post that the gun will not function with the 11th rd. The reason I noticed it in the first place was because the mag will not go into the gun. I was really just wondering if because I could do it, was there a reason to question the mags reliability? Thanks...
Of my three 10 round g17 magazines I can get 11 rounds into two of them. Has anyone else ever noticed this? Does this mean the mags are in some way unreliable or is it not a big deal? The gun has over 1000 rds. through it with no problems so I am guessing they are ok.
Is the 22-250 based on the .250 savage? If not where does the "250" come from. Also does anybody know of a link to a source of this kind of information ?
Thanks,
The links posted above are what I was thinking about if only they were combined. One has calibers while the other has sizes. As for thickness, I would think something like an average T-shirt, but then the size of the jag would also be important. Maybe trial and error is the way to go.
Does anyone know of a source of proper patch size for different calibers? I know I could use trial and error but it would be nice to know for sure that when cleaning a .22 caliber bore the patch should be 1" x 1" or whatever the correct size is.

Just like a DA/SA, only the slide DOES NOT cock the gun for the second and all following rounds. The only way to cock the gun is to pull the trigger. Again, if you keep pulling the...
I know someone who has a Model Seven in .222 and they might be willing to sell it. I have only seen the rifle one time, and as far as I can tell (I don't really know much about inspecting the bore) the gun is in pretty good shape. The wood and the blueing seem to be excellent. What would be a...
El Tejon, thanks. what is the ssa point system exactly? Do you have a link that explains it? I have heard of it before but I haven't ever seen an explanation. I searched for an older thread but apparently there are none. It seems odd to me that a lower powered gun is prohibited. I guess that...
