The Easy Way, or the Hard Way?

Original post had me To be honest, I don't think anyone who wants to stand for open carrying, has or WILL do it the "hard way." {insert Homer voice} Unless...

    Woo Hoo!

Pretty much. I'm just putting some perspective back into this thread. Take your new permit, go to Vermont or Alaska, stare at that expensive permit while you're there as you carry your gun, then ask yourself while looking at the permit, "what did I just pay for?"

    NRA State Report Cards?

*sigh* That link only shows primaries and only becomes available a few weeks before an election. For some strange and annoying reason, nra refuses to just keep an ongoing rating system. It's not like that would cost any more than they already spend for someone to type a letter next to a name...

    NRA State Report Cards?

NRA doesn't really listen to members in this way. This is why it took a private individual to compile this information here. NRA also takes forever to release it's candidate ratings and to top it off, those ratings are only available to nra members (so much for caring about education and the...

Help me decide between a shotgun or a pistol.

Two people want the obvious proven to them. It's real complicated: intruder surprises you and grabs part of that 16 inch + barrel and pulls/twists it away from you. Something that complicated DEFINITELY requires all sorts of studies and citations

    Woo Hoo!

Remember when Americans prized their rights instead of celebrating when government gave them a license to do something they already have the right to do. Visitors to Vermont and Alaska celebrate in the way free men celebrate (i.e. no time for congratulations, too busy enjoying my rights).

    The Smells of shooting....

Why do two posters associate solvent with shooting? Who takes solvent to the range? I don't even use solvent very often, I clean and lube at the same time.

Help me decide between a shotgun or a pistol.

Shirley, the very fact that you admit that training is required in order to merely maneuver a bulky shotgun inside the house proves my point. By the way, if an intruder surprises you, it is VERY easy to grab that bulky, low capacity shotgun and either immediately take it out of your hands or...

    The Smells of shooting....

I prefer the smell of a new gun, but the smell of burnt gun powder smells good too.

Playing along is not "conversion." Women are absolutely NOT easy to convert (girlfriend or otherwise). It's not a conversion until the convert goes and buys their own firearm. Joining GOA would count too.

Why haven't you married this woman? Get her a Ruger charger (the 10/22 turned into a pistol). http://www.gunpundit.com/2008/ruger_charger_shot.jpg

Help me decide between a shotgun or a pistol.

sm wrote a book to respond to a man's opinion. I didn't read but the first few lines. Like I said (which everybody missed), by all means, if you have room for gun storage, get an 870. Again, like I said, buying bulk shells at wally world makes storing a shotgun a good idea. I did NOT say...

Small gun manufacturers we need to support

What small gun manufacturers do we need to specifically support because this particular maker manufactures super politically incorrect firearms that the atf would love to find a reason to put out of business? These would be manufacturers who aren't going to get a gravy train defense contract...

Help me decide between a shotgun or a pistol.

Other than zombie fantasies or the fantasy of "racking the slide to scare the heck out of an intruder," a shotgun is almost useless. It's a big oversized "friend impresser" but that's about it. Taking a shotgun on a shooting trip is bulky and boring. People rush to buy shotguns because they...
