Is Shooting IDPA Training or Just Another Action Pistol Game?

No flames, no water ... good thread. My 2 cents ... Competitive shooting is not literally training, matches are more of a venue to put learned (trained) actions into use, and the more you do something your likely to get better at doing it. Trained (learned) skill(s) deteriorate w/o practice...

Charges Filed in Boy's Accidental Death

It was an accident ... a very tragic accident. However, "club officials" should have been overseeing the event to insure that what was being promised was provided (i.e. certified instructors). The father may not have known the characteristics of the micro-Uzi, but the "certified" folks sure...

What happens if you shoot a bed sheet?

Depends on who's wearing it and what they are doing at the time ... Fun thread though, lots of good "sheet". :neener:

    Least usefull caliber.

Any caliber other than the one for the gun I have when I'm "engaged" and running out of ammo

    Having A Rifle Reblued?

Check with local gunsmiths if they claim to do the work ask if they have some examples of the different level finishes they offer (polite way to get a feel for the quality of their work. If the local "smiths" don't do that work, ask them for a recommendation of a company that does. If the...

    Barrel a lost cause?

If screw presently protrudes into the bore ... remove screw (as outlined above) then using appropriate size washer(s) or made up spacer from shim stock to prevent screw from going that deep into the hole, re-insert screw. If the screw does not protrude into the bore then don't worry about it...

    Amazing bullet performance?

Typo's and reading errors aside. DRT ammo is similar to other's that have preceded it. They are not magic bullets, etc., etc. Following is link to two of their videos. Please note that performance is pretty good (as shown) but no where near the devastation suggested in advertising, and...

    Another gunshow thread

Just got home from doing the Niles, OH show and I'll be at the Medina, OH show this coming weekend. The Niles show was jammed and folks were buying, buying, buying. :what: As for buyer age ... it was all over the place ... Seniors to young adults. Male and female. And the good thing was...

    A Smith "Judge"????

Don't think so ... Smith is very risk adverse and there are other (more powerful) cartridges that can be chambered and fired in the 45/410 setups And about the "locks" ... last time I checked the "Judge" had a lock on it :D

Cylinder locked up with Buffalo Bore .38 +P?

With the tight tolerances ... a primer sticking up "slightly" can be just enough to lock things up. Stick w/ loads/ammo appropriate for your pistol and you should have no problems.

    Taurus 605 357Magnum 2inch

By comparison to pricing in my part of the country $300 new is a very fair price. Yes I own one and I like it. Stout, but not vicious w/ +P Tackle box/boat gun. And, I've also thrown it in a day pack more than a time or two.

    red dot on .44mag

I've not had any problems using Aimpoint and PDP and I've even stuck a BSA on one for a neighbor, but it hasn't been shot enough to really make a proper statement about longevity with moderate use. Just something the guy had and wanted to try on his pistol.

    Afraid of Recoil

Hmmmm ... experienced hunter therefore discharging firearm should not be a surprise to him. As stated fella shooting medium caliber rifle nearby and no effect. And I would like to think that both of you had hearing protection on. So you stoke up a few rounds in your SA and the guy gets...

FBI: Justifiable homicides at highest in more than a decade

In many cities, as the public has encountered growing violent crime, with an increasing number of officers wounded or killed in the line of duty ... plus in response to demands on the political "powers" to be, to crack down on crime, there is more rational acceptance that officer (or civilian)...

Traffic stops with multiple guns - leo ?

Question is to open to give a decent answer. Guns within reach? Guns appear to be loaded? Other occupants in the vehicle? Driver's actions/reactions? Any transport laws being broken? etc., etc., etc. .... It's situational judgement and if in doubt separate person or persons...

    wont shoot reloads

Primer seating. Type primer being used. Bad batch of primers. If you were having problems w/ factory loads I'd suggest checking out firing pin, but you say factory is fine. You might want to add a blurb about the firing pin impression on the primer. Is it the same as for a fired...

    What would you do?

I'd let it go after the attempts to reason with the man. From your narrative you had other (non-family) people witnessing exchange. If your a CCW then you know that there still wasn't enough provocation to warrant use of your handgun. If you not a CCW then there is the matter of assault if...

Boxed in by pedestrian(s) while in a vehicle

Keep your doors locked, if any windows are down close them. Stay in the car, if the person makes any threatening gestures and/or some "friends" of the individual come up. Lay on the horn. Also use cell phone if you have one. If you have an OnStar equipped vehicle hit the emergency button, as...
