RW, have you had an opportunity to work up any loads with that barrel? I have an Encore as well and have been looking at the 20" 50cal barrels for it. I have a standard 26" barrel (haven't chrono'ed any loads yet), but wanted to know how the 20" ones perform before...
The problem is, around here at least, there isn't much in the way of non +P SD loads. The standard pressure stuff is all wadcutter or jacketed hardball. All of the HPs I've seen except for Federal's anemic 110gr Hydroshok are +P.
Chris
I do that all the time. Works fine in my flatlatch 36 and 37-2.
It will accelerate wear, but you'll spend more on +P ammo to get to that point that you paid for the gun.

I have to agree with Jim. There are too many good, used guns from S&W or Ruger for less than $400 (often less than $300) and too many NEW Tauruses for less than $400 to bother with bottom tier junk. The Comanche might be ok in the short term, but how many will you have to buy to get the...
Nothing regular. Just an email that originates from one of us to the effect of "let's go shooting".
Once the weather cools off a bit we'll probably do the shotgun thing at BR or IWL. There are other "events", but clay games are the most common.
Send me a PM with your email addy and...
Magtech is good for cheap plinking ammo. Georgia Arms loads a decent round that's $19 and mild enough for plinking (chrono'd at 1100fps from my 5.5" Redhawk).
Otherwise, all I shoot in 44mag are my own handloads. 300g@1300fps. W00T!

I stopped having a use for Natchez when they charged me for a box of bullets, but shipped one single bullet. When I called to let them know of the error, they claimed I ordered a single bullet. :cuss:

Speer worked with the NYCPD to develop this load for snubnose revolvers. I don't have links to the tests handy, but I've seen the gel tests for the load I recommended above. The load was designed to penetrate per the FBI requirements when fired out of the typical 2" snubnose barrel. It does...
I would definitely get clarification because the C&R folks don't even have to have a business name to get the dealer discount (I know 'cause I are one).
It depends on the item. Most of the stuff I buy isn't discounted much, but I've seen some hefty discounts on their site. Even still, the...
Lee Classic Turret, mounted to a sturdy board that can be clamped to a desk, table, small child, etc.
I use that same press (attached to my bench) for 38, 357, 44mag, and 6.5x55. I'll be adding 30-30 to that list very soon. I've loaded 32acp on it in the past. When I lived in an...
I like the Speer 135gr "Short Barrel" load. It was designed to deliver good performance out of snubnose barrels. That's what I carry in my S&W 37.
