i had the same problem with my new colt government ,polish the barrel with a coil of 4x2 lapped tightly around the cleaning rod with a little sol auto sol crome polish applied ,this will smooth out the barrel and leave it shining ,it does work well ,also use liquid lube alox on your already...

the webley revolvers had quite a common habit of blowing their cylinders out even using their own ammo and i have personally seen this happen with no warning the side blows out .IF you check serial numbers on a lot of webleys you will find the cylinder does not match the frame .
mybe i'm missing something but as far as i know and this is open for discussion the ordinary british soldier was not issued with a revolver at all ,only non com's and up had them at least up too the first world war ???????. The war office didn't rate a revolver as an effective weapon at all.
rc flint has the right idea i have mine done and it completly cures the problem, it is a simple conversion to do yourself if you can use a bench drill and a blow torch.
