    Movie Star: Weatherby Mark V

I finally managed to find the name of the movie, and will identify it here for the information of anyone who may be interested: it is called Running Target, directed by Marvin R. Weinstein and released in 1956. I believe it was based on the Steve Frazee short story "My Brother Down There"...

    Sako 85 Bavarian

I came across this old thread, and as requested will post some brief feedback. Stock I haven't had any issues with the stock design. No cheek bruising or similar problems. The rifle seems to kick about as much as any other medium-weight .30-06. If the felt recoil is any greater or less...

    You guys seen this?

I don't really see the point. No, the AK is not flawless, but it is simple and reliable. This "upgrade" detracts from those advantages. If the fellow in the movie was really interested in faster reloads, he'd be well advised to remove the sling or at least lengthen it: it kept getting in...

    Scout rifles-pro & con

Yep, that pretty much sums up the inherent problems with the 'scout' concept. It is an awkward solution in search of a problem. They are still around, but not in large numbers. Good to know that most shooters have not fallen for the hype ... there's hope for humanity yet! ;)

    "Never sell a gun"

That can be true; but if you haven't used a particular item in several years, it is probably a fairly safe bet that it no longer suits your current circumstances or interests. Agreed, if one owns, say, a small pistol. But multiple long guns do take up a fair bit of room. I suppose they could...

    AR-15 Anti-Tacti-cool

Related thread. I agree with Geoff. IIRC Colt made some early 601s and 602s with brown-colored plastic furniture. Some AR-10s were finished that way too (see for example here). Perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

    "Never sell a gun"

Unless someone owns one or more super-expensive firearms, I can't see that selling any would bring in enough money to make the sale worthwhile: a few thousand dollars isn't enough to make or break anyone. To my way of thinking, the only reason for selling a firearm is if you're not using it...

    Why are Guns so Addicting?

:barf: :barf: :barf: Man, that would cure anyone's gun addiction!

    "Never sell a gun"

Today's warriors are issued their weapons by their respective militaries, generally (though not always) on a rather temporary basis: weapons are handed in when one completes a patrol, tour of duty, etc. Neither retaining nor trading away is an option. There is a lot to be said for this approach...

Hard to find a handy open sight bolt rifle?

Typical! :( A rifle without sights is like a car without wheels.

    "Never sell a gun"

If possessions no longer fits one's life circumstances, they should be disposed of ... why tie up money and physic energy in unproductive assets? If those circumstances subsequently change, you can always replace the possessions (as MMCSRET says, firearms are merely fungible pieces of machinery).

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

No rights are unlimited. Try insisiting on your right to open carry the next time you visit a public place like a prison, or a kindergarden, or a naval base.

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

There is no need in the 21st century to be walking around with a gun on the hip, frightening other people. That's just a desire to "play cowboys": pathetic. Please don't take that as a personal attack on you. Just a condemnation of the way of thinking that you've expressed. In a democracy...

Hard to find a handy open sight bolt rifle?

Oh yeah. At least a bipod, anyway! ;) To store cleaning equipment (it's hollow). It also serves as a bayonet lug.

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

I am by nature pro-gun. I don't like handgun prohibitions or similar political gestures, which do nothing to stop crime and target law-abiding citizens. But when people are openly carrying (presumably loaded) guns in urban setting, well that is going way too far for me. If nothing else, these...

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

True: about 120 years ago. Things have progressed since then. We now have electricity, flush toilets, and law and order. Does any sane person really want to return to the 'Wild Wild West' and daily gunfights?

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

Exactly. Responsible firearms usage should be showcased. E.g. target shooting, preferably with women and/or children involved. Good clean fun. Not some guy with a scary-looking automatic rifle at a presidential event. Well, if he wasn't anti-gun before, he sure must be now. Guess those...

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

Well, there aren't many suicide bombers running around in the USA (and thank goodness for that). Unless and until that sort of anarchy happens, there is no obvious case to be made for everyone going armed to the teeth at all times.

My Mac10/9 with Uzi grip and Max10 upper

And the most important question: why did you buy it? Bank heist planned, to recover the $4,900 cost? ;)
