New owner of a Model 42 Winchester

As a youth I shot 1/2 a round of skeet with a 42. Then my dad’s friend pointed out the value f the gun. Never saw it again. He got me a 101 to shoot instead.

No Revolver Ammo in the Store

I greatly prefer buying off the shelf over mail orders. Some .38 Special can now be found near me, but .357 Magnum is still very, very, scarce. No wad cutters at all, but plenty of lead round nose and FMJ in .38. I have plenty of .22LR, .32ACP, 9mm, .45ACP, and .380ACP so I don’t even pay...

No Revolver Ammo in the Store

My local gun shop gets .38 Special and .357 Mag but it sells out the same day. I broke down and ordered .357 on-line last night from the only store that had it in stock. Out of stock and back ordered flags for three pages before I found something on hand. Seems like a demand that deserves...

No Revolver Ammo in the Store

I bought my local Sportsman’s Warehouse out of all five boxes of .38 Special target loads today. Now searching for .357 Magnum.

    Shoulder Holster Pros and Cons

I routinely carry a J-Frame in a shoulder holster when working as a bartender. I can bend over, stoop, squat, everything without showing it to anyone under a Hawaiian shirt. Waiting on a Craft shoulder holster for a SP101 right now.

    S&W's most eye-appealing full-sized DA revolvers

I don’t like the tapered ejector shroud or the shotgun-esqe vented rib.

What are the “must haves” in a handgun collection?

You asked why. There are plenty of wrong-handed people who have used a 1911. Ones in the military for example. Mine has as the ambi safety… The .357 is often considered the rock-bottom of handgun hunting calibers for deer-sized game. Snubbies because of concealability and the challenge of...

    Mossberg 590

The bayonet is just for photo ops.

    Great quality holster

I’ve been looking at HBE. He’s local to me, but I’m quite well stocked with holsters already.

What are the “must haves” in a handgun collection?

There are some guns that every American should own. A 1911, Glock 19, snubbie .38, 4” .357, pump shotgun, AR-15, .22 LR rifle, and a bolt deer rifle. Everything else is just a plus.

    Mossberg 590

I use a picatinney rail clamped to the mag tube for a sling mount. The factory one up front interferes with the bayonet.

    Ruger KLCR 357 snub love

Think what you want, but I can shoot my LCR with the “Tamer” grip a lot longer than I can my J-Frame with wood stocks.

Fanny Pack Holster - Proof of Concept

Get a Fanny pack and put a Canadian flag patch on it, or a diabetic supplies label. People can be easily diverted.

Slug Gun for Deer Question: Does barrel need to be rifled???

I was taking deer with a Winchester model 12 many years before I heard that rifled shotgun barrels existed.

    Thoughts on .32ACP pocket pistols

On the rare occasion I cannot carry a gun, I drop a Keltec P-32 in my pocket. All the ammo is FMJ.

Full Time RVing: Staying Legal in 49 States + Canada

In planning for my eventual retirement dream of becoming a full time RVer, I got a Mossberg 500. I’ve never heard of assault shotguns being banned anywhere. Don’t care to leave the US in my travels, and I’ll be a retired LEO (HR218) for my handgun needs.

    Browning Hi-power

Mine was made in 1942 and has Nazi proof marks. Grandpa’s war trophy. Priceless to me.

For a duty pistol, does a rail matter?

As a cop since 1996, I strongly advise a light on a duty pistol. Bad things happen in the dark, and I get to search basements routinely.A mounted light is NOT a replacement for a handheld.

So, What's On Your "Gotta have" Wish List?

Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan in .454 just because.

    buckshot vs buckshot

I bought a Mossberg 500 because I used one as a Deputy Sheriff and they’re just great. Got it for traveling in an RV since they’re more “assault weapon” law friendly than my evil AR.
