    Cz in caliber 9mm

I have owned several. I would say they are the most accurate out of the box pistols you can get in the 400-600$$ range. The generally have great triggers as well. You can also shoot hot loads out of them without any modifications. the CZ75 - P07 Duty is the gun a glock 19 wishes it could be.

If you are buying a Heratage Firearm consider this first

Seems like a lot of threads are turning into arguments these days...... Everyone wants a confrontation. On this one I'm not sure what there is to argue about, other than the fact that some would like to castigate others for buying Heritage. In the end the poor quality reflects upon the...

If you are buying a Heratage Firearm consider this first

I have a Heritage Rough Rider. Was given to me as a present by someone who knew I liked guns but could not afford to buy me an expensive one. I love nice firearms, but I have not become a complete snob yet. I have owned enough firearms to understand why people develop certain tastes, but...

Making Your Own Round Ball And Bullets

Lee 2 cavity molds are not the greatest quality, and my experience tells me that using a wooden block to smack the sprue plate off will dramatically shorten the life of the mold. Buy some welders gloves.... once the mold gets hot enough you should be able to swing the sprue plate out by hand...

Why has LE drifted away from 9MM?

This has to be one of the most ridiculous accusations I have ever heard. Any cop who cannot figure out how to kill a whitetail at virtually point blank range should not be trusted with a gun. A Single Action 22lr would be more than sufficient for this task.

How well does the .380 stack up to the .38

13.5 grains of 2400 under a 170 gr Keith Style bullet has more power than a .380 ACP could ever dream of.

Colt revolver if you can't afford a Python

You can still get rather minty Colt Official Police .38 SPC in the $350-$500 range. These are built on the I-frame. I have run Elmer Keith 38 SPC loads through the Official Police with no issue whatsoever.

    Minimum caliber for dog protection

So we can carry guns to defend ourselves against people.... but once you throw dogs into the picture a lot of folks seem to get offended. Plain and simple thing is in most situations where you have to use a firearm to defend your life you will be held responsible for that actions that you take...

    Cheapest .38 special ammo.

Someone earlier in this thread made a claim that barrel leading happened because of a mismatch between the bullet and the pressure..... I would argue that you are going to get leading because you either have an out of spec barrel, or you are not loading the correct diameter bullet. I have...

    Cheapest .38 special ammo.

The cheapest place to get .38 SPC is to make it yourself. If you can reload and cast your own bullets you make 1000 rounds for about $50-$60. I prefer a Keith style bullet.

    Minimum caliber for dog protection

Wild dogs are becoming a problem in many areas around Virginia that I frequent. Never had any that made me fear for my life; however, my feeling is you have to treat them like a wild animal. Wild animals that make advances on me will be not be dealt with kindly. Fortunately I have never been...

    In case of hard times...

I would like to make one disclaimer...... as long as it was not made in America you are allowed to sell 1 gun per year; however, you have to shoot yourself in the foot (socks allowed) with a BB gun as penance for your unrighteous behavior. This does not give you the authority to sell a Smith &...

    In case of hard times...

The more guns I get....... the more they become an integral part of my soul. I guess you really have to weigh the emergency. What would I sell my soul for? Do I want to spend eternity in hell? What is more important, guns or food? If I lose the world, but retain my guns what have I gained...

Good revolver in the $500 range

If you are into to SA revolvers used Blackhawks can commonly be found in the 300-400 $$$ range. I actually purchased an old 44 Mag SuperBlackhawk off an older gentleman for $230. Bought a gold ring Luepold 2x for another $80 (used), and a mount for about $25. I had to clean up the...

Good revolver in the $500 range

S&W Model 28-2 I recently purchased a never shot 28-2 in .357 w/ target factory grips. I paid $500 for this revolver and it is literally brand new. Was made in the 70s but someone kept it super nice. I put the turn line on the cylinder by dry firing it. The gun was marked at $700 in a local...

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

When was my baby born? a) .357 b) 6" c) Square d) 6 shot cylinder e) adjustable rear sight f) N502193 g)28-2 Smith & Wesson Highway Patrolman w/ target grips. Looks to be unfired. There is not even a turn ring on the cylinder. I was almost inclined to think it was refinished except...

Why are .38 wadcutters not considered a good carry load?

I don't have much doubt in this whole subject, but my general philosophy is to work up loads to the point where they are still comfortable to shoot. Of course this is different for everyone, and I kind of favor hot loads. Bottom line is if you are going to use wadcutters I would load them a...

    Loading 38 Special +P

I have read an awful lot about SAAMI pressures being reduced over time to accommodate small modern revolvers (collusion with the gun companies). Moral of the story is pressure has been revised downward to accommodate cost cutting technology. Make sure before you shoot Elmer's loads the...
