    Lee enfield vs garand

probobly a garand. I have an enfield and have shot Garands. But, I would choose the garand only if I could be assured of having Mil-spec m2 ball ammo. Bone stock garands seem to short stroke on lighter powered loads in my limited experience with garands.

    Refinished Nagant...finally

thanks for the compliments guys. As far as gloss goes, I kind of wanted this one to be shiny. not authentic but I think it looks good. I could have hit it with some steel wool to dull it down but chose not to. For a stock that is exactly 100 years old, I think she cleaned up nice. It...

    Refinished Nagant...finally

so, i used red mahagony stain (2 coats) and 6 or 7 coats of tru-oil followed by steel wool in between. Granted this is by no means authentic. But I think it turned out nice. the pics are kind of bad quality....

    Social encounter...

Asking him firmly(loudly) but nicely but probobly would have worked too. If someone came up to me and got in my face and started to make a scene in a public place, I sure as hell wouldnt be in a big hurry to give them what they wanted. Then again, I wouldnt be "that guy" and take another guys...

The NRA did it again and I don't like it

What most people dont know is that many "american" things arent so american and vice versa. There are chevies that are made in canada and mexico and there are toyotas and hondas that are made in the U.S. So much for being a proud chest thumping american and "buying american" Ive been to...

penetrating oil is how I eventually got it off. Unfortunately I do not own a vice though. I will just take out the plug every 5 or 10 rounds.

    Most reliable AR15 trigger upgrade?

No problem;) For defense and durability reasons the SSA is the way to go, but if you are shooting matches, Taliv is right, the geissele hi speed is the way to go. My SSA breaks very clean, but it is around a 4# break. That suits my needs perfectly as I will not be shooting quarters at 100...

breech plug seized up on me.

Thanks for the replies guys, sorry it took me so long to get back. The powder was hodgdon pyrodex pellets. (100 grains) I shot about 25 rounds total. As far as hot water, I am a fan of a 3 part mix of isopropyl alcohol, murphys oil soap, and hydrogen peroxide and has always done the trick...

    Most reliable AR15 trigger upgrade?

Owen- The military version is called the SSF. If you do a search on the SSF and read about it on various sites, you will eventually come accross the information that states that it is replacing KAC triggers. Here is a link that says the NWSDG (naval warfare special development group)...

    Most reliable AR15 trigger upgrade?

The geissele SSA is supposed to last as long as the standard triggers. It is a well known and documented fact that it is replacing the KAC 2 stage triggers in military m4s used by elite military units. The KAC has a known service life of around 3000 rounds, and bill geissele and others have...

Mosin Nagant M91/30 vs. the Karabiner 98k

As far as which is a "better rifle". The mauser IS the better rifle hands down. Stronger action, better trigger, better overall metalwork and woodwork (assuming we ARE talking about a kar98k), and they have good reputations for accuracy. I have a mosin nagant and I will probobly wind up...

    Finish on a Mosin

Im in the process of redoing mine because I had the same problem on my 1909 M91. I got the finish off, then applied 2 coats of red mahogany stain, and am now waiting for my Birchwood casey tru-oil stock oil to arrive so I can add a nice protective shine to it while still looking somewhat...
