The worst DIY custom handgun job

Oh, where to begin. For starters, the Colt Cobra I'm picking up this weekend has some jackass's initials scratched into the side plate. Oh well, for $125... I've also seen old model 3-screw blackhawks gouged to hell by hideous scope mounts, and a Ruger MK3 stainless that somebody had engraved...

Ruger Blackhawk and .45 Colt Missouri Bullet RNFP

I've got the 5.5" Bisley convertible. I was really into reloading .45 Colt for a little while there, tried 3rd Gen SAA's, S&W 25's, etc... yet I always return to .44 Spl. In my experience they are easier to make shoot well. And I don't deal much with 20 different throat dimensions.

Gun You HAD To Get, Got, Then Lost Interest

AK's. I've owned 3 of them, and each one got a few mags shot threw it, then sold/traded. I still fail to see the appeal of them. I know the "what if" crowd loves to spout about how impossible they are to get to fail, but frankly, I'm not tossing them in the mud, and they do nothing...

    Pleasant problem...need help

An early 10 was my first revolver. I'd have to take that one.

    I'm a Colt Cobra owner!

Awesome! I have a 4" blued King Cobra, love it as well. Pretty much any Colt under $500, and you're doing ok.

    Opinions on 327 Magnum

I already almost forgot about this caliber, although I like the idea of it. At one point when it first came out, I thought very hard about getting a .32 HR mag Single-Six rechambered for this, but couldn't justify the cost. I think that gun, with a Marlin 1894 in .327 as well would be awesome...

Shot my Ruger Super Redhawk "Alaskan" for the first time yesterday ... AWESOME!!

What a beautiful snubby! That being said, I can't say I'd line up the touch off any of my heaviest .454 loads in that little dude.

    paintball goggle for shooting

Just remember, shooting glasses are meant for the odd chance of failure, quality PB goggles (JT, etc) are meant to be shot point-blank by a 300fps ball thousands of times. They will take the abuse, I know first hand.

    paintball goggle for shooting

Most will stop a direct hit from bird-shot, so they are probably a better bet than most safety glasses. Been playing since about '96 or so, with some of the best players in the world (played nat'l tourneys all over the country), and I have NEVER seen anything shatter PB goggles, and that...

    Number of cartridges?

Oh, I'd say 12-15 regularly, but I reload the obscure stuff very occasionally, so add another 10-15 to that.

    Sig Sauer...what's the big deal?

I've owned or currently own HK's, Glocks, Berettas, Colts, etc. I also own multiple Sigs. The Sigs get shot the most. I like the others, but I LOVE the 220-series platform. My 228/229's fit my hand like a glove, shoot tiny groups, and NEVER malfunction. Not to mention they are pretty...

Did You Ever Do Something Stupid, like......

When I was pretty young, maybe 10 or so, my best friend and I were out "hunting" with our new BB guns. At the time I didn't really understand the concept of sighting-in a rifle, but had always been deadly accurate with all my BB/pellet rifles before. Well, I thought it would be funny to shoot...

    Close the Loophole???

I am against any and all gun control, first and foremost. That being said, let's quickly address an easy step towards getting the anti's off our asses. I know this is off-topic, but hear me out. We as gun owners should project a responsible, sensible aire about us in public. If you wanna...

    Does anybody else like recoil?

I like a good hot .357 load that lets you know you aren't using a peashooter, and I can tolerate my .44 and .454 just fine, although I don't "love" the recoil. Rifle/slug-gun recoil tends to bother me from some guns and not from others. For instance, my .308 Sako is a breeze to shoot, but my...

Whats Your Favorite Missouri Bullet Load

You won't, they are actually quite snappy, little over 1000fps. I used a basic formula to derive the pressure point at which an 18-Brinell-hardness lead bullet will obturate in the bore without melting/deforming. I then loaded them at or just below that pressure (experimented shooting...

    Berdan primers

Ok, so it is a big pain in the ass. lol. But, it can be done, and i imagine if you shot some obscure caliber, or had a LOT of berdan brass, it'd be worth it.

    Quick Question About Brass

Try reloading tapered handgun brass like 9mm or .30carbine. Even with carbide dies, 9mm often requires lube, and .30 always does.

Whats Your Favorite Missouri Bullet Load

If you shoot a .357 and haven't loaded up some 158gr Action! bullets over 5.0gr of Titegroup, you are missing out. One of the most accurate loads known to mankind.

    Why I buy RCBS

I know people knock Lee, but save for a few quirks, I really like their stuff. They have always sent me whatever little BS part I need, free of charge. I use some RCBS stuff, but frankly, a lot of the RCBS stuff that is nearly identical to the Lee stuff is twice the price, and I am not going...

    Berdan primers

With a little finesse, it is possible to convert Berdan brass to accept Boxer primers.
