Help me understand... a 10lb rifle 'worth' it's weight in gold?

For some folks it's about the pride of owning the finest that money can buy. They are not the "cheapest that will get the job done" like some of us. It is also an investment gun. I knew a guy that collected fine shotguns used by English Royals. Not only to have the finest, but as an investment...

    .22 Rifle Accuracy

Another thing is the open sights. When I was a young man, I was pretty good with them if I remember right. But now it seems the light, my ability to focus and just about anything makes it really hard to shoot them well especially at longer ranges. It may not be a problem for you but probably a...

Which bolt action .22 LR rifle would you recommend for accuracy from a bench or in the field?

Any individual rifle in any mass produced brand can exceed your expectations or disappoint. Some more than others. A poll of experienced shooters is a good idea. Also you might want to be on equal footing with the guys you shoot with. Another reason to go CZ.

Which bolt action .22 LR rifle would you recommend for accuracy from a bench or in the field?

I am a CZ fan, I shoot 452's in matches, but I have shot some 457s MTR and At-One. Both shot great. I have a 457 Lux but it needs a little testing and tuning. Some guys do well with a Tikka. Careful about buying a CZ. Thye tend to multiply if you are not careful. I have a Ruger American than...

    7.62x39 v. 7.62x51 short range wounding differences

See my picture. I liked the 7.62 NATO alot. That it is more lethal and more powerful should be without question.

    .22 Rifle Accuracy

100 yards is pretty far for a gun meant to shoot just a few yards. Especially with bad ammo. Also a carbon ring ahead of the chamber is common in old guns. Another possibility is that thousands of 22 shorts may have been shot in a 22 LR chamber leaving deposits. I have a 1940's Winchester 74...

    Hatsan "twang"

Some spring noise is normal on some springer Hatsans. If it bothers you, you could get one with a gas spring. They often have refurbs and close outs on their web site.

    Wood Body Armor Plates?

Yes, I read about that in a book about Texas Rangers and the early days in Texas. Lots of information about Indian raids and warfare. They were very effective against arrows. I don't recall how they stood up to any black powder loads. I think they were able to deflect light loads at a distance.

    Considering a new action

I know guys that shoot one-hole groups with trued Remington's in smallest group competitions. I don't know.

Turkey gun for very recoil sensitive lady

My grandson is using a 12 gauge 11-87 with a saddle scope mount this year. 20's can kick more than a 12 depending on weight and load.

    Wood Body Armor Plates?

I know a guy that invented lightweight body armor that is being sold to government agencies and over seas. I have talked to him about it but he won't tell me what it is made of. I suspect it may be similar to this only not made by a kid at home. I did see another video of a bulletproof vest that...

    Trap gun for a beginner

Thanks guys. Lots of wisdom shared. 20 gauge is not an option. He is big enough to do well with my A5 12 gauge. I offered a 20 gauge but his coach wants them to use 12's. I did a search and found stock options for the 1100/11-87 and 870. Also the CZ trap gun is attractive. I do have a Berretta...

    Trap gun for a beginner

Used guns are hard to find around here. I see mostly O/U's at the range but he doesn't want one.

Is It Time To Stockpile Ammo?

Don't worry, Kamala just said she wants Red Flag laws nationally. They are going to take away your guns so you aren't going to need ammo. They already know who we are and where we are.

    Trap gun for a beginner

I already shared how my grandson is using my New version Browning A5 for trap. He shot a 20 with it Sunday and it's only his 6th time ever shooting trap. My son has decided to shoot too and while he used to shoot with an 11-87 he now is using my Francki 612. I am happy to see them do well and am...

    Curio & Relic Carry Piece

So is a P-38 old? I am over 75 and don't consider anything made since WW2 very old. Now my 2001 Z-28 is eligible for collector plates. I consider it new. Old er would be my 68 Camaro if I still had it. Old would be my dad's 28 model A Ford that he bought for $28 used off a car lot when I was a kid.

Firing a DA revolver in SA mode

Not much to add, I have SA and DA pistols, I shoot mostly SA out of habit. I shoot more Semi-auto pistols now days and most are hammerless. It just takes practice whichever way you shoot.

Less then a buck recoil pad.

Great job. It probably solves the problem of recoil pads falling apart or getting sticky as well.

    Beginnings with 22 LR

You haven't seen a carbon ring with your bore scope? I am in the minority then. Mystery to me. I just know what works for me.
