First gun I ever fired was a Browning T-Bolt .22 rifle when I was about 12 at Boy Scout camp, got my first rifle, a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie as a birthday present a few months later. Still have it, taught my son to shoot with it, and will be taking my grandson to the range with it real soon.
I actually enjoy the time spend reloading on my Dillon 650, but I enjoy my time spent shooting a whole lot more. For me, the less time I "need" to spend reloading leaves me more time for shooting.
The underlying reason for that particular (ugly rubber) pistol grip is that it was something I had on-hand (took it off of a Mossberg 500 shotgun years ago) and that it was relatively easy to fit to the H&A action so I could take my (then) new creation out to the range - I just never got around...
Back in the mid-80's I made the mistake of buying a Sardius SD-9, it is still taking up space in my safe, I can't bring myself to inflict it on anyone else....
My 39A "Golden Mountie" (purchased new in 1966) was the first gun I ever owned, it still shoots great after all these years, hope to pass it on the my grandson someday.
This is the ball-head that I bought to replace the flimsy pan/tilt head that comes with the tripod:

Makes setting up the chrono a whole lot faster (and far more stable)
Although they are almost always referred to as "non-historical" (downright unmentionable on some traditionalist BP forums), I am a big fan of the Numrich Arms / Hopkins & Allen under hammer rifles & pistols. Simple design, easy to maintain, and loads of fun to shoot.
Thanks Doug.
There are actually a number of currently in production receiver sights (Lyman 57SML and Williams WGRS-WR to name a couple) that will fit the curved H&A receiver, I am hunting for an original H&A "lollipop" peep sight that mounts at the very rear of the receiver in the factory...
Thanks, no luck with either of those places.... Numrich does have some H&A underhammer parts, but not the globe front or the rear peep sight for this model.
I recently acquired a old Hopkins & Allen (Numrich) "Off Hand" under hammer .45 muzzleloader in overall very good shape, but having a broken front globe sight and missing the receiver mount peep sight. From what's left of the globe, it looks like a Lyman 17 AML would be a perfect replacement...
