Double check everything when you are training...embarrassing story

+1 on that.... You are accountable for every round that leaves your weapon. Did you find where that round stopped? Because it sure didn't stop inside an interior wall... I'd be tracing that trajectory and praying it didn't end up in my neighbor's house...

Double check everything when you are training...embarrassing story

Well, not much to be said about the ND. Just be glad you didn't ask a member of your family to hide and play "bad guy". Clearing a weapon is a mindset that needs to be learned. I'd recommend Front Sight's 4 Day Defensive Handgun class (or some similar school) which would give you two things...

Pistol Accuracy at 50 meters distance ?

Students in Front Sight's Handgun Combat Master Prep hit steel on the rifle range at 300m pretty consistently. That's 300m, not 30m. Not with every shot, but with quite a few. Most of them are using Glock 35s these days. To put it into perspective, to become a Handgun Combat Master you must...

    First Appleseed for me

Hey, Congrats on earning The Patch! :) Glad one more person found out Appleseed is nothing like the NY Times makes it out to be.

    Hogue Handall grip for GLOCK.

I hated mine. Traded it for some DecalGrip and have never looked back. The Handall made the grip too fat, and the fat finger grooves caused the middle finger of my firing hand to get pinched under the trigger guard. Sand-textured DecalGrip is awesome.

    my movie experience

Kudos to you for walking around in Condition Yellow. When you ramped up to Orange it was clear he got the message: "I am aware of the threat and you are not inside my decision cycle buddy". This seems like a textbook example of how criminals will not screw with people they perceive as "aware" -...

    Suggestions for CCW .22LR

Oh man, 4 pages of garbage posts with only a few people actually answering the poor guy's question. If you can't help the poster with his inquiry, then keep you opinions to yourself. No one cares if you think a .380, or a 9mm, or 1911 is better than a .22. Every caliber has it's place. The OP...

    "Shoot me first" pants

+1!!! I see vest I think "He's either a wanna-be reporter, or packing - most likely the later." The only place a vest doesn't draw my suspicion is the guy in the middle of a river with a flyrod. Or perhaps the "shoot me first fannypack"?? Or the "shoot me first hawaiian-print shirt"...?? Or...

Sig Sauer 250......How long until its discontinued ?

It's a good idea, very poorly executed and overpriced. I bought into the hype and was sorely disappointed. Averaged between an 8-10% failure rate in 3000 rounds I put through it. It just has a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. I loved the ergonomics, but that's all it had going for it. But...

    Sig Mosquito

Couple thousand rounds of CCI Mini-Mags through mine with only a few problems during the break in period. Pretty flawless since then. I have not tried any other brand of ammo in mine. Clean and wet keeps mine happy.

    Using a light

Bug Bomb... lol. Well, I guess that would level the playing field just like a light: You'd both be down. Anyway, I want to qualify "train, train, train". I should have stated "Train, practice, practice, practice". You don't have to spend lots of money and go to tons of training. Go to one good...

    Using a light

Wow, I'm sorry Killian, but you need some training. "tactical enquiry" sounds like it will get you shot quicker than if you knew how to effectively deploy a light. Look, we're talking about a situation where it is necessary to clear your house - I totally advocate hunkering down, calling 911...

    Making a Pocket Holster

Mods, this probably belongs in the holster sub-forum, but I wanted to get some exposure up here. Move as desired. With summer coming I’ve been interested in experimenting with "cargo shorts carry". I’ve looked around at various vendor’s offerings for pocket carry but recently I had an “aha!”...

    Using a light

With all due respect, that's because you haven't been taught how to use it effectively. You're correct, they will shoot at the light, but you don't just flip it on and start sweeping your house. You practice light-discipline. It's on for short bursts while scanning for threats. As soon as it...

    Lesson at Range Tonight

You need to do some Tueller Drills. The danger zone should be considered about 21 feet. If they are within 21 feet they can close on you with a contact weapon in about 1.5 seconds, before you can effectively present. I've trained with older gentlemen in their 70's who have no problem pulling...

    Glock 19 problem

Does it happen consistently every time with the same magazine? Every time with *all* your magazines? or just that once? If it was just once and didn't happen again, I would call it an anomaly, probably caused by your grip. Keep an eye out if it happens again, and mark that magazine.

question on kydex holster for glock

+1 Uncle Mike's makes good cheap mag pouches and belts, but your weapon is only as good as it's holster. You should invest in a good one. Blade-Tech or Blackhawk, IMHO. Sorry I didn't specifically answer your question.
