New to skeet shooting. Am I looking at an ok purchase or is there better?

Truer words about shotguns and clay shooting have not been spoken!!! By a $15,000 shotgun and over the life of the shooter, that price will be chump change, compared to targets, range fees, ammo, etc.

New to skeet shooting. Am I looking at an ok purchase or is there better?

“rather liberal”…get the cheapest thing you can find, I think this might be a “phase” and will pass, so you’re not out a lot of money

    Sound Barriers for Home/Public ranges?

If you can get/build a shed and line it with egg create foam and stay inside it while firing, will help a lot, with just you I would think 8x12 would keep everything inside…15’ would be better. Another thing you can do, plant Leyland cypress trees, 3-4 rows and stagger the rows, will take a...

    Anyone painted their reloading bench?

Never understood the 2x top layer…what are you guys loading that you need that additional strength? I have ¾” plywood as the top with ledger on back (at wall), 2x6 on edge at the front, I also have a 2x4 under each press as legs, the spacing would drive someone with OCD crazy, but it was cheap...

My 870 Express 28-gauge shoots very high, is there an attachment for the vented rib?

A quick and easy way to check if you’re “lining” up correctly or at least in the ballpark. This is going to be the most unnerving thing you’ve probably done, but it’s quick and will get you “better” centered, and you’ll need a trusted friend that knows a little about guns. With gun unloaded and...

    Shotgun ammo for home defense

Just curios...if you're reloading, why not use the lighter and cheaper 124gr bullet?

45acp Case Life Longevity Test Update (non-scientific)

I have one from my father early 40's...I couldn't begin to count how many times it's been loaded; the amazing thing is, it hasn't been lost in all those years. I loaded it year ago or so and now it sets in the reloading room.

    Maverick 88 OR Mossberg Persuader?

Get the 88...TFB did a "burn down" video on one...500 rounds of whatever they have and only stop when either gun breaks and ammo is gone. The 88 did a ton better than I though it would being such and inexpensive gun. I think you would be hard pressed to find a used 870 of any type for under...

Guns per Year - What was your year of the gun?

I am a mechanical designer and landed a contracting job for Uncle Sam 15 years ago making CRAZY money…CRAZY. As most here, you have a list or even a bucket list of guns you‘d purchase if you had the money. God blessed me with that job and a wife that was good with me doing just that…I cleared...

    B14R .22 LR Ammo Test

Years back (early/mid 90’s) my father and I were getting into a local rimfire shoot, we both had Ruger 10/22’s we fitted trigger and heavy barrels to and Remington 541’s…long story short, his (both) loved Winchester T-22 and I mean LOVED them…crazy accurate. Mine on the other hand totally...

Sporting Clays and skeet shotgun recommendations?

Take this for what you paid for it. What are you looking to do, get better or just have fun? If better, a gun really isn’t the answer…PRACTICE is what you want, then at some point the gun will come into play. If you are looking to have fun, get whatever blows your skirt up…life’s too short to...

    Sleeper Shotguns

The TFB "burndown test" is brutal for any gun, if you've never watched one. They take 500 rounds of whatever they have, from bird shot to 3" magnums and start shooting until either the gun stops or out of ammo, as mentioned the Maverick impressed the heck out of me as well.

    Machine gun lease

Not at all, I know a couple guys that did just that...pulled their money and purchased a Colt M16 10+ years ago. All live within about 10-20 miles of each other and shoot on the one guys property. I never really talked to them about how they "divvy up" the "ownership" of it. One other thing...

Is the 20 gauge the 6.5cm of the shotgun world?

Interesting question. With today’s loadings I think the 12 is the gun to have…almost everyone agrees the best HD round is 8 or 9 pellet #00 buck, which cannot be had in 20, you can get factory loads from 1-1/4oz down to 3/4oz and with the weight of some guns, the 3/4oz load is like shooting a...
