How much training have you had?

In the use of firearms? Somebody brought this question up on another board, and I thought it would be a good fit here. I'm going from memory here, so my numbers might be off a bit, but it's pretty close. CA POST level three reserve officer training-64 hours CA POST level two reserve...

People who carry concealed are frightened..

I found this quote on another thread. Doesn't matter who said it, I've heard the same thing in different words many times. What I am after here is to figure out why someone would believe this statement to be true... After all, I have a fire extinguisher in my vehicles, not from fear, but out...

    Free Front Sight Certificates...

Mods, I hope this is ok to post here. I am in no way affiliated with Front Sight, I just think this is a fantastic opportunity some of our members might be interested in... I know this is legit, as I have already received my certificate in the mail. Front Sight is giving away certificates...

"Employee Verification System" part of amnesty bill???

This is the first I've heard of this. Anybody know anything about it? I'm still looking for more sources, but this is what I have found so far. Briefly, it's being said that DHS will have to do checks on everyone in America prior to new employment, to make sure they are allowed to work here...

Proposed DOJ rule change regarding prints...

Now we have that out of the way, so nobody feels obliged to ask what this thread has to do with firearms. Take a look at this:Proposed change to include non-serious offenses in Federal fingerprint database about halfway down the page, on the right hand side. Specifically mentioned...

    My first hunt......

Sunday I go with a co-worker to hunt deer. Taking my 870 with rifled slugs and his 30-06. With luck, I will come home with meat for the freezer. If not, at least I get to spend the day squatting in damp underbrush.:)

    My wife decides to carry....

:) So, my wife has never been anti, has always supported my decision to carry, but has never shown the desire to do so herself, with the exception of a brief period last year, when a neighbor was having some trouble with an abusive husband. So, a couple months ago, I was shocked to hear her...

    Nebraska "shall issue"?

Just saw this on another forum. The Nebraska legislature apparently passed it, just waiting for the Governors signature, which is expected. Anybody else heard about this, or have a link? That would make 40 states with some form of CCW.

    Trap and eye dominance.....

Does eye dominance matter when shooting trap? I'm right handed and left eye dominant. Will I need to shoot left handed in order to hit anything? The thought just occurred to me, don't know why. I shoot handgun right handed, haven't tried rifle, but I do fine with right handed shotgun...

Which gun for bear? Yes, again....

I like to go hiking in the forests near my home. We have cougar and black bear, among other things, roaming these same forests. While I would like to have a 44mag or 454(10mm, .50, etc) at some point, the funds are not there at the moment. So, my question is, of the three handguns available to...

    Finally read Unintended Consequences

Just a couple days ago. Got through it in two sittings, LOL. Addictive. Quite informative, in regards to the progression of gun control laws. I didn't know about the Bonus Army, either. A good read, and sobering. I highly recommend it.

Lead source for casting own bullets...

Where's a good place to look? I've heard of using wheelweights, but where would I get them? Do tire shops give the stuff away, or sell it? Do I need to scrounge from the junkyard? Could I buy scrap lead anywhere, maybe a salvage yard? Are any of these good ideas? I've been planning to get into...

Concealed Carry restrictions......Getting rid of them

Just thinking to myself today. My state is pretty good in regards to concealed carry. Not ideal, of course. I would love to have Vermont/Alaska type carry. But, other than that, pretty darn good. The only places I can't carry by state law are Jails and Courthouses. Bars, churches, you name it...

    Horrible dream last night.......

:uhoh: Last night, I dreamed a new piece of gun control legislation had been made law. It got in as part of a new "security" bill. There was no text of the bill available prior to voting, and it was passed simply on the word of the sponsor. The bill made it a felony offense to have more than...

    Effectiveness of the .380?

I'm looking for something very small. I recently started a new job. It's a small company(20 or so employees), and we're in a very rural part of Oregon, so I don't think carrying would be a big deal, and there's nothing I've seen or heard forbidding it. All the same, I have this job through a...
