Polish Slide Flats - Protect Safety Paint

I'm going to do a little polishing on the flats of a Beretta 92FS slide and I'm wondering if I can do something to protect red paint in the safety dot indentions? I've done this on another slide and the slurry will discolor the paint and it's tough to clean. I had to repaint the safety dots in...

Repair small ding in stock prior to finishing.

I'm refinishing a walnut Marlin stock from a 39A. There is a small ding that I'm not sure of the best way to deal with. As you can see it's about 3 mm wide and not very deep. It was larger but I steamed it several times to get it to the state it's in now. It seems too small to use a filler as is...

Quality .22 Revolver & Current Prices

Yes, I agree. I'm looking to invest in my pleasure not my dollar and I'm perfectly willing to pay true value or even slightly higher. From what I've been seeing I think that can be done on a S&W but man those Colts are bringing some big bucks.

Quality .22 Revolver & Current Prices

I have many autoloading 22LR of all sizes and they are great. I even have a Beretta Minx in 22 short that's a hoot to shoot. Here is what really prompted this: I've always loved the 22 short because they are so quiet. I can grab a CCI box and a bolt or lever rifle and sit on the back porch...

Quality .22 Revolver & Current Prices

Thanks for the advice guys. I really wanted a Colt to go with a King Cobra I bought new many years ago. I just watched this Diamondback roll off GB a few minutes ago. $1500. I'm from the school of you get what you pay for and I don't mind spending $700 or $800 but twice that seems excessive...

Quality .22 Revolver & Current Prices

I live out in the country and have a couple of steel plates set up that I plink at off the back porch with 22LR rifles. Not serious target shooting just relaxing and therapeutic. I'm wanting a nice revolver to do the same with and in my research came across a THR thread about the best .22...

    Re-Checkering Impressed Checkered Stock

Thanks guys. I have several other rifles, Marlins and Remingtons, with impressed checkering and it doesn't bother me a bit either. Between the inletting modifications, sanding, and finishing I've spent hours and hours on this and I've really enjoyed that time. I just thought the checkering would...

    Re-Checkering Impressed Checkered Stock

I have a Marlin 981T which is a great bolt action .22 but wasn't available with a wood stock. I purchased an unfinished Marlin walnut stock for a different model from Numrich and made all the necessary inletting modifications. I finished the stock with Tru Oil (my first experience with that)...

Browning A5 Replacement Barrel W/ Removable Chokes

Ok, didn't know the Japanese barrels with invector chokes would work. I'd pay $225 all day long. Did a quick search on GB and didn't find anything. I guess I just need to keep a look out. I like the idea of keeping the original barrel unmolested. I guess I could pick up an extra fixed and...

Browning A5 Replacement Barrel W/ Removable Chokes

Dove season is going strong here and since my nephew and his buddies are constantly borrowing my extra shotguns I've been using an old '68 Belgium Auto-5 with fixed modified barrel. It has always been a safe queen but I have really enjoyed using it as a shooter this season. I'd like to have...

Mini-14 Flash Hider for Ranch Rifle

I have a recent model Mini-14 Ranch Rifle in stainless that I'd like to install a flash hider on. In looking around I see several that specifically indicate that it will not fit the Ranch Rifle model. Will any flash hider marked Post-2005 work with the Ranch Rifle or is there something specific...

Is a Browning HiPower Worth $300 More Than a CZ?

Take the $300 and put it toward a Kadet Kit for the CZ. Then you'll have a 9mm of fantastic quality and one of the best large framed .22LR money can buy. CZ did their Kadet kit right. I have a Ciener kit for my BHP that never seed the light of day because the Kadet is so good.

Too bad they never made a Beretta Jetfire 950 in .22lr

Yep, I totally agree. I love my .22 short 950 and actually shoot it quite often. A LR version would have been really nice. Your SA vs. DA/SA comment is why I prefer the 70S slightly over the 87 Cheetah. Beretta did the .22 right with much quality and class.

    Walther PPK/S in a 22LR.

I love midsize .22LR pistols and the PP/PPK design is a thing of beauty. I just never could get around the "Made In W. Germany" = made in France deception of the postwar made versions. usp9 wrote "my heart goes to a clone. The Daewoo DP52" Agreed. Have one and love it although my favorite...

    Beretta Model 70 and 70S

+1 on everything Shear_stress wrote. That is my understanding as well. Beretta did these .22LR with quality, style, and much class.

Marlin 1894 lever action feeding problem.

Problem solved I FIXED the problem guys. I think it was a combination of a loose screw which caused the symptoms of the Marlin Jam as indicated above. The gun is much easier and intuitive to take apart than I thought. The Carrier Assembly DID have a notch forged into it from the sharp edge of...

Marlin 1894 lever action feeding problem.

YES! Thank you. That is EXACTLY what is going on. Man, I'm not capable of performing the work required to fix it. Think I should take the gun to a local gunsmith or send it back to Marlin for the repair?

Marlin 1894 lever action feeding problem.

It is a great rifle. One of my favorites. The barrel has a JM stamped on it but the rifle is only about 6 or 7 years old. I've tried several different brands of both .38 and .375 with the same problem. One cartridge in the gun and it cycles very smooth. Two or more and the lever locks open.

Marlin 1894 lever action feeding problem.

FIXED - Marlin 1894 lever action feeding problem. I have a Marlin 1894CS lever action .38/.357 rifle that I am having a problem with. It appears that the lever is connected to the feed ramp so that when it is closed the shell is brought up and forward. The action works fine with only one...
