    Infirmities? Auto vs. Revolver

You're saying cocking the hammer of a revolver on a table for every shot rather than racking the slide on an auto-loader, once, to get a nearly unlimited number of shots, would be easier? It just goes to show, everybody is different. Edit to add: The "cocking a revolver hammer on a table or...

    Infirmities? Auto vs. Revolver

Like I said, I always pay attention to these threads, and I'll make a mental note of your response, so thanks. I'm about 15 years older than you, and while I don't have an arthritis problem, yet, I expect it will catch up with me sooner or later. Currently, I'm probably most limited by my...

    Infirmities? Auto vs. Revolver

I do follow most of these, "I'm old/small/weak/injured/child/woman" threads, because I'm not a big guy and I'm getting older. I do see a lot of recommendations for revolvers in these threads, but other than the above mentioned picking up brass, at this point in my shooting life, I'd much...

Good sites for handgun specs (comparison charts)?

I haven't looked at it in years, and I can't remember all the features, but Genitron used to have some dimensional information. https://www.genitron.com/

Stopped Cleaning your Gun! I did - You Too?

I also used to quote a FAQ page from Schuemann barrels, where the owner commented his cleaning technique is to not run a bore brush through his barrels, and just ran a lubed patch through the barrel, and his barrel got shinier and shinier the more he shot. When he'd use a bore brush, he'd get...

Stopped Cleaning your Gun! I did - You Too?

I usually clean my guns pretty regularly, but I'm more concerned with making sure they are properly lubed rather than being concerned that they may be too dirty. Lubed and dirty is fine, but dry and either clean or dirty I don't like. Here is a blog post from a SLIP 2000 user and his 6,000...

In fairness to the TV series, I don't think the G45 was introduced by the time the series closed.

Glock 19 with red dot sight questions

I tend to agree. The only downside to the MOS versions is that some sight options get eliminated. However, the Glock MOS has been around long enough, and Glocks are so popular, most sight options have been made available for the MOS versions. Edit to add: Plan ahead. If you want to put...

    did longmire get it wrong

I understood your point. You're commenting on the hammer hitting the firing pin and causing it to move. My point is because the firing pin is inertial, all it takes is a blow hard enough for the firing pin to over come the firing pin spring, it doesn't matter where the hammer is, cocked or...

    did longmire get it wrong

It doesn't matter where the hammer is, if the gun doesn't have a firing pin safety it is the inertial characteristic of the firing pin that is the problem. With the proper amount of force the firing pin can ignite a primer without the hammer making contact with the firing pin. Drake Oldham...

    did longmire get it wrong

I suspect there is a typo here, because you can't carry an M9 with the hammer cocked and the safety engaged, because the safety is a decocker and when it is engaged, the hammer will drop.

Here are some videos that may be helpful. I don't think they are specifically comparing the Compact to the Full Size, but they are good videos.
