i;d say go with something that ammo is plentiful for if you arent a reloader. like a 243, 270, 30-06, if not got with the 308 its by far my fav round or a 257 roberts are nice too.

i have a ruger 224 mini 14 and its one of my favs for sure i dont think youll go wrong with it for sure and I think you'll be able to get your money back out of it if you get in a pinch. Just my $.02
