    Decockers...what's the difference?

I want to echo those who said the main complaint is the activation of the safety during slide manipulation/ malfunction clearance. This is a very big deal in high stress shooting. Muscle memory (vs a 1911) isnt really a big deal because most of those who have a real need to carry it carry...

Do bullets ever develop aerodynamic lift?

Below is an excerpt from an old helicopter gunnery manual. It discusses the effect that was mentioned above regarding projecitiles not fired in their direction of movement relative to the air (this movement relative to the air is called relative wind below). I have experienced this effect first...

tiny sponges for stopping bleeding now approved for civilian use

Yeah, there is no substitute for a chest seal, but a chest seal is another simple, relatively cheap, no prescription needed item. When it comes to tactical field care, most are going back to the basics ( tourniquets, pressure bandages, simple airways, chest seals and needle decompression) for...

tiny sponges for stopping bleeding now approved for civilian use

You can still buy pressure bandages and tourniquets without a prescription If you are bummed about not being able to get a hold of cool new stuff.

Giving and receiving hugs while conceal carrying

In addition to the arms low hug, I will try to do the weak arm only hug as someone else said, with the strong arm covering the weapon. Occasionally it doesnt work but the only time I ever have anyone notice it enough to ask, its always been a kid, and telling them its a phone stops the line of...

    recoil and recovering sight picture

This is one of those things that is far easier to explain than do. The idea, is to square everything to the target. You start with the weapon, then get behind it in a manner that has your shoulders and hips square to the target. If you are canted one way or the other the weapon will move off...

    Best gun for young lady

S&W j frame with shrouded hammer in .38 or Taurus equivalent. Reasons: -malfunction clearance= pull trigger again which is natural reaction. (Auto loader, not so much. Requires more practice) -She can carry it in a purse, jacket pocket, etc. and employ it without drawing (autoloader likely to...

I believe I have the egw 20 moa rail. On top of that I have the vortex low precision matched rings. My viper pst 6-24 sits just about perfect on there.

    CFE Pistol (dirty / spitting)?

I had the same issue loading plated at the low to mid range charge hogdon lists for jacketed. Functioned great and seemed like it would be a great plinking load till I noticed unburnt powder on my hands and weapon. As others have already said, bumping up the charge takes care of it. 6.5 gr...

Army opposes legislation to release surplus pistols to CMP?

I've got to speak up on behalf of the armed forces. I've had the honor of serving with highly trained (door kickers, trigger pullers) service members in all branches. While I will not argue that the majority of the armed forces is informed and care about the constitution, I will submit to you...

    Concealed Carry on a Motorcycle

I carry holstered in a tank bag because while riding the highest risk is taking a spill and having the pistol do harm that may not otherwise be done. If the transfer from the bag to the hip is going to be problematic at my destination I will carry owb typically. I've scraped enough riders off...

    Longest .223/5.56 military kill

No, not just military related. Most any wedding over there involves lots of gunfire, lots of tracers.

    The Dream

Take a look at the book "On Combat" by LTC (ret) Dave Grossman. It discusses the psychology of fighting, and the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs concept. This type of dream is discussed as it is a common one for people who have the mindset of a combatant. Oh, and yes, I have had the dream many...

    Pros/Cons Of Cut-out Slide?

I would be interested in seeing some data to support this. I believe that the design causes the weapon to be inherently more dirty by allowing all kinds of foreign objects/dust etc. inside, where it would not so easily get in other designs. Maybe the claim is simply based on the idea that the...

CSI analyst needs help with EAA proof mark (PLEASE)

Wait. CSI analyst like on TV? So is this friend of yours unreasonably attractive? Is she just as comfortable studying forensic evidence as she is serving a high risk warrant (number one in the stack of course)? How does she like working with all the futuristic technology and witty co workers...

    Mid south varmint nightmare bullets

Anyone have any experience with these? I will be using the 55 gr with IMR 4895. Don't really need them for their varmint performance per se, just couldn't pass up the price. They are pretty much the cheapest .223 bullets I have come across at about $10/100.
