    Tactical light strategies for AR

The SureFire 6P is 65 lumens and I can easily see stuff out to around 100 feet. I've got a friend with one of the Fenix lights running around 200 lumens and it's incredibly bright, almost to the point of blinding yourself if you bounce the light off a wall within 15 or 20 feet. I think the...

    Break down/camping rifles?

That's just one of the reasons why I bought an M1 Carbine. Great camp gun, decent power out to 100 yards if needed, lightweight, and fun to shoot. Kris

    Next gun recommendation...

SKS, AR-15 or AR-10, Garand or M1A/M14, or perhaps something in British .303. -K

    On Line Gun Auctions

My only (so far) experience with GunsAmerica was great, which is where I got my Plainfield M1C from. Had them hold it for me while my wife did the paperwork with my local FFL. And from Iraq, no less. (For those that want to know, yes it was nice to find it waiting for me when I got...

MY AR is Having ALOT of trouble! --HELP Please!--

While there isn't much to go on, I'm going to say it's either a magazine going/gone bad, or the magazine catch needs to be tightened. When I bought my Bushmaster new I had a similar problem with both brand new and used mags, and I could get maybe 2 or 3 rounds fired before it would happen. It...

bought a new SR-556, I think they sold me a used gun

If you look closely at pictures 4 and 5, there is extensive brass build up on the feed ramps. I hate to say it but even 100 rounds shouldn't show THAT much build up. I've fired upwards of 300 in a days worth of shooting with my boys and have NEVER had that much build up on my feed ramps. -K

    Bug out bag questions

I agree with you, to a point. You need to tailor your bag for the area you live in. For example, I live in what most would consider the metro area of Boise (I'm 25 minutes to the airport, but not in Boise city limits) so my bag is setup for my area. I'm not going to "live off the land" but...

    Killer boxer dog

Kids and dogs use their instincts much more than we do ..... if you've got both and neither of them like someone, they need to understand it's time to go and they aren't welcome back. -K

    Home defense for my wife

My wife was similar .... never had been around firearms, and was clueless about 2A because she was an Army brat that grew up in Europe. While living in wonderful southern California, the weekend after Fourth of July in 2004 our townhouse complex was raided by the San Bernardino County...

    underestimating the bg

Its a huge numbers game, so think of it this way: There are roughly 310 million Americans. Of them, roughly 1 of 3 Americans legally owns at least one firearm, or 103 million people. This means criminals have a maximum 1 in 3 chance of coming across someone who is armed. I say this...

Guns on a Budget - Help me spend wisely...

If you don't like them: Why are you keeping them? Why aren't they being used to help fund the newest purchase? Honestly, I would either sell them or use them as a trade-in ..... and that should easily get you into either the AK or AR (plus the cash) right now.

Did I get a good deal, or did I get a good deal?

No need to voice my thoughts .... I think everyone that has posted pretty much has it covered.

How do you tell cops you're armed in traffic stop?

Duty to inform .... I've only had to do it once when I took my boys shooting and the speed dropped from 65 to 50 to 35 rather quickly in an area I wasn't familar with. I pulled over, lowered all the windows in my quad cab, turned the wheel to the right, and shut down the engine. I put my...

    RE: James Castilla

It has to be a horrible experience to realize that you can't help yourself or someone else when it matters the most, and I would rather not have someone "come over to our side" due to becoming a statistic or having a bad real life experience. While we can't apologize for those that prey upon...

Plainfield M1 Carbine: USGI vs Non-USGI

Hey folks, I picked up a police department purchased M1C a while back and I'd like to get the Ultimak rail for it as it will be the camp gun and HD weapon, but they warn against using the Plainfield because it's not USGI. How do I go about telling whether it's a USGI gun or not? I've had...
