Thanks for the advice. I do make that a habit of slamming the bolts shut several times after trying to adjust a new Steven 200 trigger. That one tested my patience!
I just finished adjusting the trigger on a Win Model 70 this weekend and found it to be fairly easy to do. I pulled it apart and polished the engagement spots, did a bit of filing to reduce the creep and re-assembled to test. I was able to get it down to 2 1/2 lbs average. Since they have a...
I just got a Stevens model 200 and need to find rings and mounts. Can anyone tell me if it is the same as the Savage model 10? I can't find the Stevens model 200 in any charts. Is a one piece mount better than a two piece?
Thanks
Wonder what everyone would recommend for a variable scope for a 22-250 varmint rifle and what size of an objective. I was trying to steer away from the 50's because I don't want to get the taller rings.
Any input one way or another?
thanks!
I also picked up a Steven 200 in 22-250 for $200.00. I have spent a bit of time on the trigger from replacing the spring with lighter piano wire, polishing trigger and sear engagement and reducing the creep. About the time i get it where it should be, crisp and light, it won't pass the bolt slam...
I was lightening up my trigger on my Mark V (US model) per the instruction on the website and backing out the trigger pull set screw. Unfortunately I went too far, it fell to the ground and now is lost! So I call Weatherby to find the thread pitch so I can go get another one. They refused to...
Thanks much for the replies, i appreciate the use of your knowledge. I have that youth load pdf from Hodgdon but can't for the life of me get my hands on H4895, been trying for a while.
My intent here is to create some light loads so my 12 and 10 yr old can get comfortable with thier new...
The data I got was sent to me by Speer and on it was written Speer #14 manual. They didn't list any pressure with the data on any of the loads only listed muzzle velocity.
80 grain w/16 grn = 1801, w/18 grn = 2037.
I have not looked to see when that manual was published and figure they...
I have came across several occasions where the load data is missing for the bullet grain that I need. It seems there is more data for the heavier loads than the light ones. So I ask you, can you scale the load data down or up for that particular powder to the bullet you are trying to load for...
I just opened up my Weatherby to float it and get it ready to bed it and this is what i found. This is the 3rd stock they have put on the rifle during its life and have been very good about it with no questions asked. I never pulled the other 2 off to look and float so i don't know what they...
I am trying to put together a youth load Using the Nosler 55gr ballistic tip bullet. I read that the H4895 can be reduced by 60% of max load (see Hodgdon link below) and in Sierra's book the 55 gr bullet uses 38.4 grains of H4895.
I have also found a reduce load using IMR4198 for 70, 80, 90...
Follow up: yes I do reload my own that is why I was wondering if a heavier grain bullet on a .223/22-250 cal would be enough to stop a deer. The Ruger m77 6mm (.243) is a great rifle and if anyone has some light loads to offer for that I could make it work. I like the suggestion of free standing...
Hey all, first time poster but long time reader! Lots of great info here. This season will be my boys first year to hunt and I am having a hard time deciding on a rifle. He has went out with me before and last year i let him carry a 6mm Rem which i used before i got my 25-06, great rifle! The...
