    Deer:processor or kitchen counter?

Make sure you toss the carcass & head in the common trash. They love that.

    Buying a 10mm Glock soon -- thoughts?

Alas, EAA Witness in 10mm is not an option around my neck of the woods. But I manage to find plenty of other 10mm goodies.

    Buying a 10mm Glock soon -- thoughts?

Are these drop-in on the G20? Getting back on topic, I have the G29, not the G20, and I like it. I did, however, have Robar do a grip reduction. It made all the difference to me. Quite accurate, good function. I know I'm not supposed to load lead bullets in it, but it handles the 230gr...

    Deer:processor or kitchen counter?

Try doing it in Berkeley, in the garage, visible to the street (and a busy one at that). I used to get an equal number of "Bambi killer" to "Can I try some?" The stuff I get in-state, I tend to butcher myself (though I have to send the wife out for the day). The out-of-state stuff I usually...

    Hidden closet behind hinged bookcase

A friend of mine has one, in which he installed his gunsafe and his handloading gear. Not meant to be really "secret", just out of sight. Probably an anti-clutter move on his wife's part, as much as anything.

    Mountain Lion Shot in Self-Defense

An acquaintance of mine was recently stalked by a wolf in a northern state. He backtracked it to prove it -- and he is an experienced tracker and hunter with fish&game experience. A Canadian relative of mine shot one last year that had stalked him and attacked him. I can agree that...

    Mountain Lion Shot in Self-Defense

Wolves will and do, and there are occasional reports of bears stalking humans.

FN 57 - good, bad, indifferent?

Yeah, it's not the optimal wild pig hunting handgun (think hot 10mm or 44mag), since the commonly available ammo is the wrong load for that thick hide of the boar. The wild pigs I shot with the FiveseveN were all head shots, behind the ear, and they were DRT -- I wouldn't have tried the shot...

FN 57 - good, bad, indifferent?

Investigation showed that it was not OOB firing, but a handload issue. The OP on the issue posted FN's response here: http://fnforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=7781&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=70.

What do you see in your mind's eye when you read "Mall Ninja?

Saturday afternoon at the public range, the one over "there" with the full camo, including tactical vest and thigh rigs, and an AR-clone with every accessory available via mail order -- squeezing off a 12" group at the 25 yard line.

FN 57 - good, bad, indifferent?

After another couple thousand rounds, I have to say I'm impressed. It won't knock over thick steel plates, but it will penetrate and disable completely quite a number of other targets. And it WILL go through some backstops. I've seen the holes to prove it at one of our indoor ranges. I've...

FN 57 - good, bad, indifferent?

+1, generally. I've been carrying it around and shooting it a bit (2K so far, mostly at little critters and rocks). Reliability has been perfect. I hate the trigger. It's bad. It gets better over time, but it's not a glass rod by any stretch of the imagination. More like a green twig...

    Repressive states...ever considered moving?

California is my home. Born and raised, multigenerational family, etc. I've lived in other states and other countries, temporarily for professional reasons, but always found the overall equation here better. Not to mention that I can make enough here to pay for the second home in another...

    Firearm(s) you have...but don't like?

Several AR-15s. Or as better known around here: legally registered assault weapons. I'm not much of a semiauto guy, and I can't stand the "boing". The only reason I keep them is that it seems to annoy California politicians. Come to think of it, that's why I should take them out and use...

Moose Kill Question From An Ex Hunter....

Well, the .45-70 DOES seem to work on buffalo, so maybe there is something to that logic.

Whats the deal with gutting a deer?

Personally, I like to cool down the meat as quickly as possible, so I gut it as soon as I can. I think it makes the meat taste better, and there's less chance of spoilage. If it looks like I can get it hung quickly, like within 30 minutes, I'll hang it and skin/gut at the same time.

Which one should I get, Sig Sauer or S&W 1911?

The S&W's have been great. I have three (one for carry, two for competition). Good functioning, though I had an issue with the thumb safety on one of the competition rigs, but S&W PC fixed it quickly (and for free). The Sig's have been problematic, function-wise. I tried two, but ended up...

Moose Kill Question From An Ex Hunter....

As others have said, I'm sure a .270 would do it, but I would take one of the heavier rifles if I had a choice. My one-and-only (so far) was taken with a .30-06, but if I were hunting now it would be a .338 or more likely a .350RemMag.
