Had this issue with my LCPII. It's basically sitting in a safe collecting dust. Eventually, I'll send it back to Ruger.
Now my original LCP has been a reliable workhorse. Not as pleasant to shoot as the II, but it does shoot.
As long as they go BOOM, are reasonably accurate and extract/eject, I'm okay with dirty.
I clean after every range session, so it doesn't make a ton if difference either way.
There's absolutely NOTHING at the LGS to buy. So nothing to get worked up over.
I was the other day to bring in an old Remington M58 12 gauge for repair and the shelves were bare. No powder, primers, ammo. Other than rifles and shotguns, pretty scarce.
I have a few different lock types. While I'm more accustom to Frame locks, my new favorite EDC (Ontario RAT II) is a liner lock. I think you have to work this knife very hard to have this lock fail.
Another vote for an Ontario RAT II AUS-8. Got it for $25 on Amazon. Light weight, easy to carry and quick deployment. Super sharp right out of the box and an edge that's easy to maintain.
Personally, I think the whole liner lock v. frame lock thing is a bit overblown.
Lived near that area for 20 years. I'd consider it to be a solid middle-to-upper-middle-class area with pockets of very expensive real estate.
Bottom line is that this could happen anywhere.
