    Cerakote Finish

Had it milled for an RMR which meant there was bare metal so cerakote was the best option.

    Cerakote Finish

Like most paints and finishes, it's all in the prep work. No issues with common cleaners and solvents. Have 2 personal guns cerakoted. One is a G19 that's carried daily and it's getting a little holster wear. My 22/45 is just a range pinker and it's still flawless. Have a 6920 that was...

    Pistol mounted lights

Everybody on my SWAT team has a 1500 lumen Surefire Scout mounted on our rifle. We all go lights-ons once we make entry and we all see fine. I'm a huge fan of Surefire for all my duty and some off-duty guns but I recently added a Streamlight TLR-7 to an off-duty G19 and am pretty happy with...

    EDC Fiber Optic Sights

I have Dawson's on my duty G17 for a few years before the department switched everybody over to them. Before getting issued a separate SWAT pistol this was a double duty gun that got a decent amount of abuse. I've broken my fiber optic once and it's a simple 1 minute fix with a lighter. So far...

    Ankle carry only?

Not for me, but I'm also fit. Safariland rigs are rigid and sit perfectly there. I'll admit it is much easier in a Tahoe than it was in a Crown Vic

Force on Force; Defense from Vehicle

If you didn't, I was going to throw his name out there. Aaron Cowan with Sage Dynamics is also a well known instructor and if you spend any rice reading his articles and watching his material it's easy to see his methods and research are solid

    Aimpoint ACRO

Have RMRs so I'm not going to change anything but competition is always good. Many of the other micro optics I would hesitate to mount on a duty gun.

    Benchmade gun destruction

It's common practice to destroy guns after the case is closed. Unfortunately the police department can't just list the guns from the evidence room up for auction as easily as retired vehicles or unclaimed merchandise.

did anyone have this type of drill while in service ?

I'm trying to figure out how laying down is a good tactic if contact has been made.

    Truck gun? Yes or no

Are you ok with leaving $2500-3000 cash in your truck? Because that's typically how much I have in my rifles. Even so, the headache with dealing with filing a report with insurance, local law enforcement and the ATF is a no go. Even if you have a piece of junk truck gun that isn't worth much...

Is Sig p365 really actually truly safe to carry appendix?

Carrying a gun is inherently dangerous. And that's why we train. I was very anti-AIWB until I saw it in a Victory First class. I was faster and from a fighting and defensive position it had it's advantages as well as concealibility. Unfortunately for me, I tried it for a bit and couldn't get...

    AR15 has pretty bad accuracy?

True, but BCM tends to have better quality control. Everybody gets barrels and BCGs from the same guys but not everybody goes through the effort of making sure the components they get are made to their specifications and assembled properly. There's a reason why brand A costs more than brand B.

Is Sig p365 really actually truly safe to carry appendix?

I don't get why folks are so scared/ignorant of appendix carry. My IWB at 4:00 is probably pointed at more major blood vessels than appendix. Train what you carry with. I've taken a shooting from concealment class for LE where most of the guys carried AIWB with no issues. Constant drawing and...

    Have you ever been shot?

I was standing next to my buddy shooting steel when one came back and hit him square in the nuts. There was still enough zing that after it bounced off him it hit my leg and still stung. Lots of bruising and swelling for him.

    Holster belts

Another fan of the Wilderness Tactical belts. Worn mine for about 18 years and only had to send it back once to get the velcro replaced.

    Which hand-held light/gun combo for low-light shooting?

I guess I should have specified that one light that's measured at 1000 lumens can perform differently from another light also measured at 1000 lumens. As you mentioned in an earlier post, candela also needs to be considered to determine what type of throw and hotspot you want to work with. I...

    Which hand-held light/gun combo for low-light shooting?

Get as many lumens as you can get. Also, not all lumens are created the same. Anybody that tells you X number of lumens is too much doesn't know what he's talking about. I carry a handheld and weapon mounted lights on my pistols and rifles. They do not replace each other, but if you actually...

My advice to people just getting into carry

Although I get the concept of a smaller and more comfortable gun for carry, I'd rather stick to something larger with a decent round, capacity, and rail to attach a light. Small pocket guns are more difficult to draw from concealment and place rapid hits with. Not something somebody who is new...

Glocks Rub Me The Wrong Way

Have you tried gloves? I'm forced to wear gloves on SWAT so I've learned over the years to shoot with them. I shoot similarly with and without gloves now. Currently wearing SKD Pig gloves. Other guys on the team are using the new Mechanix Covert gloves with good results.

new style rear sight on the latest MKIV 22/45 Lites

I put a Vortex red dot on my MKII and never looked back. Although when the kids are old enough to shoot I'll need to buy another one with iron sights to teach them with.
