3 Flash Holes? Doesn't appear to be drilled-out Berdan

Hello, I'm relatively new to reloading rifle brass, though I've seen what 'normal' (2-hole) Berdan cases look like. I often pick up other cases from my local range while policing my own (and TBH, I pick up un-collected brass as a hobby). I came across a few 7.62x39 cases that have a ͶK 1982...

    Cheap, Easy, Uniform Case Annealing

This applies to both rifle and handgun brass, so I guess this is the logical place to put it. Over the years, I've tried the candle method, my wife's gas range, and inductive heating. Until now, nothing I've tried is quick and easy, or worked with both rifle and handgun brass. This system is...

    Kudos to Evergladesamm.com

In February, I placed an order for components from Evergladesammo.com. They sent a shipment confirmation including a USPS tracking number. I tracked the shipment on the USPS website and on the day it was supposed to arrive, it didn't. The next day the USPS website said it was "delayed"...

How Abundant Should the Caution be?

We used to say "better safe than sorry" but somewhere along the line, the phrase "abundance of caution" entered common use. So, my question is how abundant should that caution be for reloaders? Since I don't have a range nearby where I can scarf up endless quantities of common caliber brass, I...

.223 /5.56 over size case head problem solved

If anyone has ever had trouble reloading .223 Rem/5.56 for an AR15 where the resized brass will not pass a case gauge and you are getting some reloaded rounds jammed in your AR like I was. I finally found a solution. I have been reloading for over 40 years before starting to reload for an AR15...

    Spent brass in airplane carry-on

Tomorrow I'm flying back home from my grandfather's funeral. Being a WWII veteran, he had a military funeral complete with a gun salute. Several of us kept a piece of the fired blank brass as mementos. The issue is that I didn't check any luggage, so my piece of brass will have to go in my...

    Not another brass cleaning post!

No, it's not what you think - honest. Right now, I have a rotary tumbler built out of some material handling rollers and the drive mechanism from a Texas Instruments Optiplex dot matrix printer. I use plastic coffee cans for the tumbling drums. And this has met my needs since the 1990's, but...

    A few questions...

Good morning, everyone. I have a few questions pertaining to reloading for my WOA Varmint 223. I think I know the answer to the first two, but can't find the answer to the last one for the life of me. Any help is much appreciated. 1) I have some once fired brass from Mil-Spec (or close to it)...

    .38 Special Case - 2nd time reload markings/damage?

Hi all, Recently entered the world of reloading with a Lee Hand Press to "learn the ropes" - so far, I'm exclusively loading .38 special, with plans to soon move to .357 magnum. My first load was 3.4 gr of Bullseye with a Hornady 158 gr LSWCHP in Remington brass. The OAL is slightly under 1.5"...

    Berthier 1892/M16 at the range.

I've been interested in French firearms for a long time and finally got into reloading 8mm Lebel recently. So I took my M16 carbine which is just a few years away from its 100 year anniversary out and did a video on its history and some of the more paractical things about owning a reloading for...

When is "premium" brass worth the extra money?

I tried searching for a question like this on the forum here and couldn't find a super relevant thread which I found surprising as I'm sure it's a pretty common question.... I've been loading for a variety of rifles and calibers and have just been using once fired brass from Remington & Federal...

.308 Win Reloading Question Also Annealing Before or After Prep?

My first question, do you single stage size your .308 or size on a progressive? When annealing, do you prep the brass first, and why? I purchased Lake City .308 once fired brass. I wet tumbled it and once dried I dry media tumbled to polish it up more. This brass with proper lube still takes...

    New Case Trimmer

I have a new case trimmer and I am anxious to try it out. I'm setting up for .308 Win. I picked up a "HMR "WCT" Worlds cheapest trimmer!" This is according to Holub Machine & Repair website, LINK I'm waiting on my die set so I can resize the cases and try out this trimmer. I expect it will...

    Tumbling with stainless steel media

Today I tumbled some brass that had some pretty deep scratches. Hard to measure but you could certainly feel them with your finger or nail. After tumbling for 2.5 hrs I cannot tell which cases had the scratches. Just how much brass do those little rods remove anyway??

Question about new brass framed 1851 Navy by Pietta

I was wondering if anyone had any real experience shooting a brass framed BP revolver? Do they last as long as steel if loaded light most of the time? Do they wear out easy? These are a couple things I have heard about brass framed revolvers. I know there are people here who know a lot more...

    Nosler 280 AI Brass

I am currently building a 280 Ackley Improved and my gunsmith has recommended the Nosler Brass. I am looking for a source of 280 AI brass, preferably Nosler. I realize I can easily fire form my brass, I was hoping for a shortcut and correctly head stamped brass. I appreciate any input.

Staining brass for identification or aesthetics

So the second batch of .45 Long Colt I ever made, a little over a year ago, I made with Pyrodex P. I had decided to sell my BP cap and ball revolver for a flintlock, and therefore needed to go "real BP" instead of substitute, and so I had little other use for the leftover Pyrodex except in a...

Possession of rifle brass in NJ

Hello I took my friend from New Jersey shooting earlier today. He asked if he could have one of my .45-70 brass to take as a souvenir. Can he possess this in NJ? Any special instructions for getting it back to his home? Can he have it in his checked baggage on the airplane? Thanks. L

Minimum safe brass size for 45 acp

I've been looking all over for this information, but cant find it. Here is the question; at what size is .45 acp brass too short to reload safely ? I know nobody trims pistol brass. It only gets shorter as it gets fired. Manuals state .888 is minimum "trim to length" and .898 is max. Does...

    Segregating brass for light loads?

I have searched the forums and haven't found this particular topic anywhere. I recently got my dad's .22-250 along with dies, a few loaded rounds, and a bunch of brass. 4 boxes of the brass have a file-mark on the rim. I remember we marked the brass he was using for reduced loads like that...
