Swiss K31 and non lead projectiles

Has anyone ever loaded non-lead bullets for their K31? I was thinking of loading some 150gr Hornady GMX in mine but it's my understanding that those bullets like a lot of jump and I know there is not a lot of free bore in K31s so I was curious I'd anyone else had tried it and what kind of results.?

    .300 Blackout Recipes147gr FMJ Surplus

Hi everyone, I am looking to reload a bunch (500 or so) 147gr FMJ projectiles for my .300 Blackout stash. I have maybe only a few hundred rounds for it I bought and it's all for hunting. I have no real "bulk" or training ammo as it stands. I have a case gauge on the way for better safety...

Been reloading for 4 years now, just got to chronograph my loads for the first time

So I've been loading my own 9mm (and other calibers) for about 4 years now and never was able to get them through a chronograph. Until today. I load my all my 9mm with 124gr berrys bullets with 5gr of power pistol. Shot them through my g17 today through my brother in law's chronograph. They...

    Inconsistent powder throws

I recently started reloading 44mag a little while back. I've been having issues with my Lee pro auto disk powder measure. I cant seem to get consistent charges while using alliant 2400 powder. I will get charges that vary from +/- .1 gn all the way to +/- 1.5 gn. The pro auto disk design just...

    Weird pressures with cfe 223

Hi, I'm fairly new to reloading so I'm hoping to get some advice from more seasoned vets. I recently got some cfe 223 for use in some .308 loads with some 175gr Sierra matchkings. According to the hodgdon website starting load is 45.5 gr and max load is 47.5, so I loaded 25 rounds (5 groups of...

    Headspace and Handloading

First time posting here outside of the intro thread, but I've read threads for a long time. Greetings. I've been handloading since I was 14 (>20 years now...time flies), but am trying to get serious and into PRS competition. Having my M70 rebarreled is a several month process, so like many I...

    .45 Raptor - TIR

How many .45 Raptor handloaders do we have here? Have you achieved the accuracy you were searching for with your loads in your rifle? Did you have any struggles with TIR? I am still trying to find the accuracy I want (would love to fine <=MOA). In my searching, I have realized that my TIR is...

    AR-10 and bullet depth.

I completed an AR-10 build using Aero Precision components. I have shot about 60 or 70 rounds through it. It performs well and accuracy is very good. It shoots better than I do. I have been using the 168G Gold Match factory ammo from Federal. I am ready to reload and wanted to check my...

What was/is your best performing load?

I've got a Remington 700 in 308 that I started reloading for to get the best accuracy possible First, my gun: it started life as a Remington 700 ADL varmint with a blind box magazine, a Cabelas special. It's got a 1:12 bull barrel that is 26" long... I got it for a great price. Since then I...

Purpose built funnel for handloading single rounds of multiple cartridges

I got tired of using a plastic funnel when loading individual cartridge cases for velocity testing, so I made this funnel out of a piece of 3/4" aluminum round stock. The lowest level is about .270" to fit into the neck of a .270 Winchester case, the next lowest level is .300" o fit into any one...

    Load testing decison

Hi all, I did some testing a couple weeks ago and I have been going back on forth of what load to go with. I have been developing a load for 2 different ar's with the main goal of self defense secondary accuracy out to 400-600 yards. With that said here is some of the data. Nosler 60 gr...

    Cartridges for a handloading beginner?

Hey guys, got another question. With this whole quarantine going on I'm pretty much stuck at home with nothing better to do but come up with some questions. (Hence why this is my 3rd post in less than a week) Anyway, for the last couple of years I've been contemplating getting into handloading...

If you had to choose one bullet manufacturer for hand/reloading, which one would it be?

Hello guys and gals. New loader/reloader here. Just bought myself an RCBS Supreme reloading kit recommended by a coworker. He says, which makes sense to me, to generally stick to one bullet manufacturer for a few different reasons. Obviously, you can buy however many reloading manuals you...

Handloading for barrel length or suppressors

Those who often reload probably know there are around 5 to 8 different manufacturers of smokeless gun powders, who all together produce nearly a hundred different types of smokeless powders, if not more than that. The powders they produce range from very slow burning (magnum) to very fast...

.357 magnum with 300 gr bullets

In a recent thread on the hunting section, I intended to ask about .200 gr bullets for use in 357 Mag for hunting purposes, but I had a typo and typed 300 gr instead. I was pleasantly surprised that the people on the thread didn't judge the idea (which is why I love this forum) but instead...

Old timey rifles and "cold bore" shots; thoughts on rifle harmonics

So I was shooting my K31 in the snow the other day, the way God intended, doing some load development, and I encountered something I have never actually seen before: actual significant "cold bore" point of impact changes. I was shooting 3 shot groups(cuz I can't afford 10 shot groups) and with...

    410 Power

Hey folks, I have two 12-gauges and I decided it might be fun to get a 410 so that my girls and other recoil-sensitive folks I shoot with can enjoy busting things with shot as much as I do. Yes I'm aware you can load and buy low-recoil 12ga but a 410 weapon would be lighter weight and there's...

    410/45LC Performance

Howdy. First post, though I've lurked on this site and its archives since I was a teenager (2008) and became obsessed with firearms and ballistics. I've been doing a lot of research about the Judge and the Bond Arms 45LC/410 derringers lately, and I've come up with a question that I've not...

Hornady Brass Quality control, 7mm Remington Magnum

When I got my 7mm RM I got a bunch of Hornady brass. I've fired some of them a couple times now and every time, no matter how hot I load them, they stick in the chamber. The bolt turns up just as easy as you could hope for but it can be difficult to pull rearward. There are no pressure signs on...
