Swiss K31 and non lead projectiles

Has anyone ever loaded non-lead bullets for their K31? I was thinking of loading some 150gr Hornady GMX in mine but it's my understanding that those bullets like a lot of jump and I know there is not a lot of free bore in K31s so I was curious I'd anyone else had tried it and what kind of results.?

Schützenfest ! (Aka k-31 with diopters)

As a collector of match rifles, I added another to the stable! The k-31 with Waffenfabrik diopters. This one in particular was shot in Schützenfest 1995 based on the sticker on the stock. It also has red banded tape wrapped around the forestock indicating it was match used. (FYI if you have a...

    Creating a mannlicher k31

Making a mannlicher k31. I am looking to do this the best way, not necessarily the easiest way. Please let me know if you catch any flaws in my thinking so I can adjust before I make a permanent mistake on the work! Feedback is appreciated. Let’s begin! Here is the intended project: (I...

    Re-handling a swiss bayonet

So I think I have finally decided to bite the bullet and replace the wooden portion of the grip on my 1918/55(?) bayonet. The Bayonet was in a fire 1.5 years ago and the original does not appear to be salvageable due to deep cracking and shrinkage. The blade steel appears to be good, still...

Old timey rifles and "cold bore" shots; thoughts on rifle harmonics

So I was shooting my K31 in the snow the other day, the way God intended, doing some load development, and I encountered something I have never actually seen before: actual significant "cold bore" point of impact changes. I was shooting 3 shot groups(cuz I can't afford 10 shot groups) and with...

K-31 “Alternative history” snipers rifle build

Hey guys, Finished up this build recently and thought I’d share it. I like to do these builds under a “historical fiction” eye, and call them “alternative history rifles”. Before you freak out, I purchased a barreled Action to do this build and I’d never do this to an original rifle of any...

    K31 Swiss Accuracy Test

Heya gentlemen! I wanted to upload some footage from the first range trip with my recently acquired 1944 K31 Swiss. I scoured YouTube looking for good videos on accuracy and there were some amazing long-distance open-sight shots out at 1000+ yards, however, trying to get a feel for what the...

Has anyone had trouble with the K31 & St. Marie clamp-on mount being hard on scopes?

So I need to figure out whether the mount might be a little hard on scopes, not sure why it would be. I have a St Marie clamp-on mount, and recently had an issue with my Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 scope. The scope has done fine since I sighted it in about a year and a half ago, then I tried to...
