Well, the Wish List, still stapled to my forehead, got a tad lighter, today; along with the wallet. Went and ordered a Shoulder Stock, for the ’58 . Had specifically gotten the Target model, for those nifty sights. Believe their function might be an asset, when combined with the use of a stock.
Searched, through not an inconsiderable number of web sites, tryin’ to find just one, which had the stock in stock. Finally got to Circle KB Inc., and decided to give ‘em a call. Glad I did. Had the honor of speaking with Kris and Brett, over the phone. Both, were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful.
While they do still have stocks available for some other models of revolvers, it seems they’re waiting on customs, for the ’58 Old Army models. However, am now about half-dozenth in line, on the waiting list, to receive mine. They estimate about 10 days, to two weeks, for the items to clear customs. (‘Course, that depends a lot upon customs.) Then I’ll be emailed with the shipping info. Am assured that the card won’t get billed, until the day the item ships. All sounds fair to me.
Have checked, and the latest word on the legality of attaching stocks appears to be: No federal problem, as long as the revolver remains in BP mode, whilst the stock is attached. (Apparently, my state pretty much follows along those same guidelines.) So, no cylinder conversion, during use in not-really-even-long-enough-to-be-a-carbine mode. Use a converter cylinder, and someone who cares might point out that the barrel of the revolver has, all of a sudden, become ten inches too short.
And (‘cause I just know someone would mention it), have read up upon proper weak hand placement, where such regards the cylinder. I do so like to count in base ten.
Y’all may get tired of my thanks, for such help as has been provided by this forum. Oh, well… I’d not have been nearly as well prepared to make these purchases, were it not for what those before me have posted. To my way of thinking, it sure beats having to ask uncle Mr. Cabela for advice (with regards to Gentleman of…
