The finishing touches are finally here. I installed a Marbles tang sight on the resurrected '06 Winchester.
It now has new wood, a new re lined barrel, a few new parts and many hours of cleaning etc. The tang sight was purchased for it's aperture function with older eyes (helps to focus on front sight & target) Thus far I'm able to get some fairly good groups at 25 yards. (an Anschutz it is not) with flawless function and a fairly good trigger.
But mainly it is a great fun rifle to shoot. It's only disappointment is that the tube magazine only holds 10 rounds which run out too fast.

I have the Rossi version, with a 16", and a 19th Century Lyman tang sight.
This was my first experience with tang sights; I drilled the tang, and used entirely ordinary machine screws to hold it. The latch on mine is missing, so the tang is always up.
A couple of Mirokuchesters now wear Marbles Tang Sights; love them.
If an Anschutz it ain't, a buddy calls it "the gun you can't miss with". It is pure murder on any target you can reasonably see. Mine will run on .22 Shorts as well.

Velocette, love the vintage .22 boxes, and I'm guessing the photo doesn't do justice to the grain in the wood.
The Marbles is adjustable for windage as well as elevation; the Lyman on mine is not, so I had to drift the front.
As regards running out of ammo too quickly, not sure if the '06 will run on shorts, but it will hold a bunch of those.
Beautiful rifle. Unhappily, Rossi has changed their version, so it no longer has the great Winchester looks.
