OK, just spent an hour reading through this whole thread and I am Blown Away! What fantastic work, sir. I too, can't wait to see the final product and video of actual shooting of this. Regarding the 1/4 scale, if it were also fully functional I believe it would completely redefine the meaning of a pocket pistol. :D I tip my hat to you, you are a skilled craftsman. CCW

Try KG Gunkote Uzi Black for a finish. It is a nktrocellulose that's really tough, and looks like matte black powder coat (think H&K plastic). I did my STGW57 in the paint, and it's held up well for a non-fancy Bubba finish --very consistent.

Haven't looked at this thread in over a month and now you have the sight, a mock barrel, and a 1/4 receiver/key chain made absolutely amazing. Also if your still considering making the key chains put me down for one at whatever cost it ends up being. That's just too cool to pass up even if I don't use anything but a key ring.

VERY COOL work! Like a few others, I just found this thread and am totally blown away. Anxious to see the range report. Hope you get ok to finish soon. And please put me down, too, for a key chain fob if you decide to make them. Thanks for one of the best threads on THR.

This is very awesome....now we all wait 6 months to see what ATFE says about it...Whatever the answer, that is one incredible piece of work sir. :)

Absolutely incredible craftsmanship.

This is the kind of thing that would make for a good article in one of the gun magazines......

Same as others have said, one of the coolest threads.

Stalled. ATF has not had time for lil' old me. Way too busy issuing ridiculous edicts on receiver machining, contradicting themselves on arm brace rulings and banning ball ammunition by calling it armor piercing.

ATF is supposed to respond to such inquiries in 60-90 days, which we're well past. I have decided that if we reach the 6 month mark with no response, I will proceed with making a barrel for this pistol. I wanted to do things by the letter, have an official declaration in hand, but I'm not going to wait forever. If they wish to challenge it's status as a handgun, I will see them in court, as even a complete idiot can plainly see that this firearm does not qualify (nor is it useable) as a rifle.

Just don't finish it in New Jersey (if anything, their histr-idiotic-nics on the brace give you more cover than ever; it isn't a stock, isn't intended to be, and you won't use it as one)

I really, REALLY want a mill. The only problem is that when I save up enough money for a mill, I purchase another firearm.

Just do what I did; trade. Cost me my AR-10A2 carbine and some other sundries, but well worth it.

I just finally replaced that rifle this week! Kinda miss the A2 profile and lion logo, but I'm diggin' the new critter:

Excellent work! I found this thread today and read the whole thing. I can't wait to see the final product.

Have you thought about making a 1/2 scale out of brass? I think it would look great.

Totally impressed by your machining especially since it looks like a master tool and die maker made it!!

Mach, there's no reason you can't make the barrel and just leave the stock off the tube. And if/when they get back to you to say the stock isn't for a shoulder (which is how I would define it if I were them) you can slap it on for the complete look.

Even a 1/2 Scale M4 'pistol' is impressive, and would be as comical a vehicle for explaining SBR idiocy as the brace ever was ;)

This is even more amazing seeing it in person. The attention to detail on the bolt/carrier assembly is astounding.

Truly a work of art.
