Just out of curiousity, but i've been wondering what the deal is with these.
They are not pinched to 10 rounds, in fact all the rounds go right to the bottom of the mag. I can only guess two reasons why these can only hold 10 and not the full 19

-They have a follower that doesn't allow double stacking?
-They have a metal insert inside of the mag that does not allow double stacking?

Let me know, its been bugging the hell out of me for months.

I have no idea as to that mag, but I buy ten rounders from time to time cheap from CDNN. I use them at the range as that is typically what I load mags to for the range anyway. It also allows me to put my higher capacity mags aside once I have tested them for reliability.

Its wierd because I was checking one out on the weekend and I noticed that the follower is the same width as the high capacity ones that I've seen on the net. So people saying that it has a smaller width inside to only allow ten rounds, are wrong.

MYSTERY!!!!!

I should just buy one and take it apart and see.

Apologies for bringing this back from the dead, but I just had to find out why these magazines only accept 10 rounds, its been bugging me since the original post.

You can clearly see here

That the magazine body is 'ribbed' for single stacking of rounds. The rib on each side of the inside of the magazine in the picture prevents rounds from double stacking. The rib is not plastic, it is part of the internal metal liner as well.
This means that the follower is not the only part that limits magazine capacity.
If any of you guys in the states ever wanted to know if you can convert your 10 rounders into hi caps for 2$ (cost of the follower), you can't, the hi cap follower will not fit.

I posted this because there are absolutley NO PICTURES or explanations of any sort on google, and I have searched very well.
thanks for your time :D

thanks for posting pic. you've saved me time in not openning my mag. I have to say it's one of the better 10rd limiter design.

If you wanted to convert it you could probably do some very careful work with a dremel tool along the length of the magazine to remove the ribs. That is assuming the dimensions are otherwise the same. That would take a bit of time and effort to make a smooth interior that feeds perfectly.
If you didn't have a dremel tool a file and a follow up with some fine grit sandpaper for the last bit would probably work as well.

However if you have such a magazine it is likely because it is illegal for you to have a higher capacity one, as it is in Canada.
Still appears possible though.

The one in the picture above is one way they did it on the 17 to 10 mags.

On the shorter mags, such as the model 23, the steel liner is just slightly bowed or V'ed in the center to reduce capacity from 13 to 10.

There is no way to modify them without cutting through the metal liner and ruining the mag.
