Following advice here as to breaking in the gun I started out easy today with 35 rounds of Win. Super X 3 3/4 Dr. # 4. No problems.

Then tried Federal Tactical LE ( which I considered, and in fact was, low recoil )
I expected cycling problems, but 40 rounds of 00 and # 4 buck shot fine as did 10 slugs.

Then tried 15 Speer Lawman 00 which would not work at all, in some cases not even cycling the action, in others hanging in the ejection port. This surprised me, since it`s sold as LE ammo.

5 rounds of the new Green Box Estate ( Amoka. MN. Mfr. ) High Velocity Rifled Slugs 1610 FPS didn`t work either, not cycling and hanging in the ejection port.

Brown Box Estate ( Amoka. MN. ) 3 1/4 Dram # 6 ( low Brass ) also didn`t work at all.

Closed with 10 Remington 3 3/4 Dr. #4, no problem.

I thought this might be of some small interest, especially to those that think the Federal and Speer LE ammo are the same.

I am looking at buying this shotgun too and I have a couple of questions...

- Are you happy with the performance so far, considering that there are issues with some of
the ammo you used?

- How is the felt recoil on this gun..
- How much did it cost you...

thanks,

Hi STGlock

So far I`m very happy with it.

The following 2 3/4 " shells all worked OK.

Since the first post I`ve fired another 25 Win. Super X 3 3/4 dr. # 4 , recoil was not a big problem.

Another 35 rounds of the Federal Tactical Low Recoil LE 00 buck, OOO Buck, and 10 slugs, recoil was almost not there. ( somewhat more in the Slugs )

10 Remington 3 3/4 dr. 0 Buckshot. no problem with recoil, and very accurate & tight groups.

5 Federal Power Shock Magnum 00 Buck, at 1290 FPS, recoil a little stiff, but was near the end of the range session.

I guess recoil is very subjective, but to me it was significantly better then the M1 Super 90 Benelli and the Rem 870 Marine Magnum we brought with us. ( which we all liked better then the Benelli FWIW )

We all thought the Benelli, I guess because it is inertia operated and very light, was unpleasent with anything other then the Federal Low Recoil loads, which it cycled fine. ( it did not cycle the Estate or Speer LE either BTW ) Magnum loads in the Benelli were to us painful.

So, it works fine with Federal, Win. and Remington, and that it cycles the Federal LE Low Recoil is very good news to me.

The cost, too much at $700.00 with rifle sights, but they seem hard to come by and I bought it at a local LE dealer so if it had problems I had walk in recourse.

Next is a complete cleaning.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind reply. I have been researching for a semi-auto loader. I did try the Benelli M1, but the recoil was unpleasant even with lightest load (bird shot). I have read a lot of issues with regards to the Remington 11-87 Police 18". so I am quiter surprise to read your post..

Good luck , hope to read more of your feed back. Right now I am leaning towards the 11-87 also as I am not comfortable with the recoil of pump and the M1s.

kind regards,

stglock
