Hi all

I am in the middle of shortening a stock on an 1100 20 gauge for my 7 year- old. I could get another 1/2" out of the stock if I used a regular nut versus the threaded nut provided, which is pitted and needs to be replaced anyway. Does anyone know the size nut which would work on the action spring tube as wella sthe thread count (TPI)?

Any other suggestions?

Welcome to the forum, brother! Yes, that is a pretty long nut, isn't it?

Would it not be more useful to buy a new (or used) nut and cut it down it yourself? I haven't done the particular work you're talking about, but Rem parts are fairly easy to find and they aren't too expensive. Especially since you have a pitted one to practice on.

Best of luck. I hope the kid has lots of fun.
