I'm something of a newbie,and sort of stumble along. I have a 12ga 1100 with a vent rib barrel and a small front bead. I want to replace, or augment, the bead with a fiber optic front sight. Some FO sights seem to use the existing bead threads for mounting. I have tried gingerly, but cannot get the bead loose, and am reluctant to funk it up if it is not threaded. Is it threaded on late model 1100's? If so, does anyone know the thread dimensions?
The Remi website says the tap for the front bead is .146 X 48. But I'm embarassed to say I'm not sure what these figures represent, because they do not match any of the various thread dimensions listed for FO replacement sights (6-48 or 3-56 for example).
I'm looking to get an FO sight that can somehow screw lock to the vent rib-not just a magnetic one. I'm open to all help and suggestions.
