I just inherited a 12 Gauge Winchester Model 12 pump shotgun. Anyone have experience shooting it and/or cleaning it. I found the official manual to be a little lacking in disassembly of it. I'm sure there are Youtube videos for it but are there any good ones and/or printed instructions for it? Thank you.

I inherited one too. What year is yours? Mine's a 1927 16 gauge.

I'll look when I get home. I remember the serial number is on the bottom but I don't remember what it is. I do know it is a 12 gauge though...

These are great guns. Sovbloc, thanks for that TM! Great stuff in their.

OP, if you want to clear a trench hold down the trigger and pump like a madman to "slam fire" as it were, then have the rest of your squad come up and unload their Tommy guns while you fall back to reload! :D!

... love my model 12! haveb't looked up what years but its a 12g nickel steel model with the barrel cut back to 20". best takedown design IMO. and having the slamfire ability is nice in a defence gun. right now is use it for carryin on motorcycle rides (taken down in 2 pcs) when i might want to hunt.

This was Hemingway's favorite pump gun. He had a 30 inch full choke model.

I used to have a 20" riot Model 12. Great little trench broom that. I've still an "itch yet scratched" for another military shotgun.

I've got a '29 mod.12 nickel steel 12ga. w/32" full. It was my paternal grandfather's. I was taught on it but quit using it years ago because of steel shot. Smoothest pump I've ever held too.

Oh yeah, the slick up like you wouldn't believe with time and age.

OP, EJNOY that shotgun. They DO NOT "make them like they used to" as it were. The M12 'Chesty was milled from all billet steel and made by craftsmen, not shot into an injection mold by foreigners like today's junk black plastic shotguns.

I will. I appreciate everyone for their info and input. Thanks.

I've got one 12Ga modified made in 1931, love it. It's just a field grade, but I've shot trap with it and did really well with it, even though I do have dedicated trap guns. Really a nice gun that all others are judged by.:)

i own 7 mod 12 shotguns from 20ga thru 12ga and they are very good shotguns, i use my 16ga more then the others for the light weight and handleing qualties. if made today it would cost over a thousand dollars, just look at the new ithaca 37,s. so a used model 12 at 350-450 is a very good buy. ps the only part i ever replaced was a firing pin in a 1928 tournament grade 12ga, only god knows how many thousands of shells were fired thru in over the years. eastbank
