OK, so today I accidentally go into the LGS. Nothing I’m looking for. I’ve been getting rid of guns, not adding

So, I get to the very end of the last rack and there is a CZ 527 in .17 Hornet. Single set trigger

I’ve got a 527 in .204 Ruger, and a 453 Varminter .22. Both pretty easy beat 1/2” with the right ammo. I have every confidence it would do just as well

To make things worse, I’ve got an orphan scope. Not just any scope, it’s a really, REALLY crisp, clear 3-12x50 Burris Signature Select looking for a place to land

This could be a hoot if I ever get back to the prairie dog fields

Wondering who here has used a .17 Hornet. For a pipsqueak round it looks pretty impressive

I have a Martini actioned .17 Ackley Hornet and also a 20" Bullberry barrel for a Contender in it. The new .17 Hornet factory ammo fits in them . The round is about as loud as a .22 Magnum , maybe a little less as it is higher pitched so sound doesn't carry as far. It will kill medium size game with the harder and heavier bullets in an emergency up to about 150 yards BUT is best on Coyotes at that range and ground squirrel up to twice that far if the wind isn't blowing too hard as it is wind sensitive. I think you need it - a very fun gun.

i killed a doe with a old sako in 17 ackley hornet, the new hornet is not much different. the 527 would be very nice in a hornet, if it's a good price i would get it, the 17 hornet is about perfect 17, my dad had a 17 rem and if you did not clean the bore every 5 shot it would string like crazy. i came very close to buying one of the new savage 25 rifles about 5 ears ago. for the money i would get the cz.

I jumped on the 17 Hornet wagon as soon as it was announced and bought one of the first Ruger Model 77/17H I could find.

My Ruger is extremely accurate with factory ammo/handloads and .5 to .75” groups are easily attainable if you do your part.

I started reloading for it almost immediately and it is very easy to duplicate factory ammo using Li’l Gun and .17 cal 20 grain VMAX bullets.

I’ve killed a boxcar full of jackrabbits with it and properly placed they will knock their heads smooth off inside 125 yards.

Here’s a video I made of a couple of 200 yard+ shots on jacks suppressed.

I have a CZ 17 Hornet, I have only shot factory ammo through it and love it, very accurate, you won't be disappointed

Back in the day, I had a 17 Rem., and it didn't have that problem at all...

I bet I put a couple thousand rounds through that rifle, before I sent it down the road, and never did have to do anything extra to the bbl. to keep it shooting good...

I just wasn't all that impressed with the 17 bullet once I started using it on something bigger than a fox, especially as the distance got out past 150 yards....
