I just purchased 200 rounds of 174gr .303 in Vickers canvas belts. The rounds seem to be in perfect condition and the belts themselves are marked May 1957.

The headstamp on the round is

KF 7 89

The 89 might be a 68, I'm not too sure. Anyone have any idea what I have here? I paid 35 cents per round which is an absolute steal here in Australia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

That would be Mark 7 ball ammo made in the ordinance plant at Kirbee India in 1968 (definitely a 68 and not 89).

Thanks for that info, Ian. Are these rounds reasonable quality? I have some Pakistani ammo also that it's surely better than - better not store them in the same cabinet, you know what Pakistan and India are like! I'll come home one day to find my house razed to the ground :D

Sorry, but I've never used any Indian .303, so I really have no idea how the quality is.
