I just bought a Pietta 1851 in .44 cal. But the grip is very small for such a large revolver. I own a Uberti 1860 Army .44 and the grip is perfect for my large sized bear paws. I believe I read somewhere a while ago that the grip frames are interchangable between the two. Is this correct? Also If I purchase a 1860 grip frame for my new Pietta 1851 does it matter if I buy a new Uberti grip frame or must it be a Pietta? Are they interchangeable?
If anyone has ever tried this your comments and advice are appreciated. Thanks!

I'd go Pietta if it were me. I don't have any experience with this but IMO you'll have a better chance of them matching satisfactorily if you stay within the same brand.

The folks that state that the Uberti and Pietta parts do not interchange well are correct.

I like shoulder stocks and the shoulder stock I have fits an ASM 1860 Army .44. I have a Pietta 1851 Navy that I wanted to fit it to, but the 1851 Navy gripframe is about 1/4" shorter than the 1860 Army frame. I have an ASM 1860 grip frame that miraculously fit the Pietta Navy frame (you gotta live right!). Take your chances and if it does not work out, sell it off.

Expat Alaska that is two pictures of an 1851 Navy. Did you mean to show a picture of your stock fitting an 1860 Army? I ask because I love shoulder stocks on percussion revolvers. I must also be living right. I bought the EXACT same stock you have pictured. They said it was for a percussion revolver so I blindly ordered it and it fits perfectly on my Uberti 1860 Army. When I received my 1851 I was confused it would not fit. I thought that screw adjustment fit any percussion revolver. After some research I understood what the term "CFS" stood for! (Cut for stock) And that not all guns have those funny extra screw heads sticking out the sides! OOPS!
