talked to the gunsmith today. He is putting an original gi rear sight on and milling down the front sight to look just like the original. It appears the front sight was welded on. As of right now, i'm not interested in having it re-parkerized. Supposed to get it back in 2-3 weeks. Will let you know.

He suggested milling the front sight down, without suggesting that option.

That looks like a 1911. An original 1911, not a 1911A1. It has a long trigger, short grip safety spur, and a flat mainspring housing with a lanyard.

Throw some new springs in the thing and start shootin.

It looks to have the relief behind the trigger, and it's stamped "M1911A1".
"United States Property" pistols are notorious for being mix-and-match.
