1911 Magazines - worth messing with or toss?

I've got 2 1911 (7 round) magazines that I inherited. They say "COLT" on the bottom but there's no prancing horse so I don't know if they're really Colt or just marked that way. The follower is kind of strange shaped in that it's not flat but almost half round with the roundness running in the same direction as the rounds as they're held in the magazine.

The magazine works flawlessly but it doesn't hold the slide open after the last round in any of the 1911's I've got. Is it worth messing with new springs/followers, etc? I don't see any obvious differences between it and my other magazines that work fine.

Just curious if it was worth spending $ on these or am I better off just ordering a couple of new Wilson 47d's?

If the lips and followers are good and not bent just install new springs. Wolf 11 pounders should be just about right.
 
I pretty much only use Wilson's, especially for carrying. Not that there's anything wrong with Colt mags, I just never have any trouble with Wilsons in any of my guns and everytime I have had a small magazine related issue it is always with the Colt type and never Wilson.
 
They are cheap knock-offs, I have a couple of them myself.

To be honest I dont think they are worth messing with, I ended up tossing mine into my junk parts box, I wont use a magazine, even for range duty, unless its 100%.

I pour them full of lead and paint them red for training - I carry 47D but I do have some range mags with rounded sit high followers (the follower is shaped much like a cartridge top) that I use for strings of 5 shots only.
 
You can get new Metalforms with the rounded follower for about $12 a copy. They work good for me.
 
dmftoy1 ,keep them for a memento of your fallen family member/friend that left them to you.Go get some good mags.(pick what works in YOUR gun) and forget about it!tom.
 
I would say keep them as a momento as well. I've tried the Wilson mags your talking about and didn't really care for them. I do absolutely love my Novak/Act mags though. They were ALOT more enexpensive as well. Just a thought.

I like to fill those with lead and then use them for fitting slides to lower ends. Maybe you could fill them with read before you mail them. That would make them worth something!
 
If they feed okay, just use'em. If the failure to lock back is a problem, just don't use them for carry.

The only mags I've ever thrown away were some that were so anti-godlin that I couldn't get them to drop free for a speed reload. As long as a little sandpaper or needlenose pliers work wil make them "run", there's no problem.

Which means that you have a problem with the follower.

Simply replace it with a new follower and the magazine should be 100% again. Actually your old follower can probably be adjusted to work. The slide lock shelf is probably just worn or bent.
