What you like

There are so many high quality pistols out there , I think you should go with what feels good in your hand(easier to be accurate...imo) and if your going to use it for a carry gun it has to fit where you will be concealing it.
In my last post I noted how My Kimber 1911 is a great pistol but my Walther P99c feels sooo much better to carry (tucked behind my rt hip) due to the smoother surfaces.
I wouldn't let the number of rounds be the deciding factor.

Regarding the Taurus 1911, minor threadjackin'...

Take this for whatever you think it's worth, but Michael Bane put the Taurus 1911 to the test -- against one of his personal 1911 pistols, a $3500 custom Kimber -- and he said the Taurus ran with the Kimber pretty well.
...after SHOT, I got calls from a couple of the best 1911 plumbers in the country, wanting to know what I thought about the Taurus. Both of them had examined the gun at length, and were VERY impressed....

...My shooting partner thought the Taurus felt a lot more like his .40 SV racegun than a single-stack .45. You EXPECT synchronicity for $3500; it's a very pleasant surprise to find it in a pistol that cost a buck less than $600....

Bottom line...is the Taurus as good as a custom 1911? No...a master's touch is just that.

Is the Taurus an amazing value? Abso-freaking-lutely! The fact that an out-of-the-box Taurus was able to run with the Kimber at all says a bunch. I would be happy to take teh Taurus to an IPSC or an IDPA match as it sets, right out of the box. After this afternoon's almost 500 rounds, I'd be willing to stick the Taurus in an IWB holster and carry it as it is....

Like I say, take it for what you think it's worth, but it sounds pretty appealing to me, and something to think about if you want a good 1911 at a good price.

Shoot an SA 1911 Milspec and an XD9 and both are a a real pleasure. You can't go wrong with either so pick the one that meets your taste and work with it.

"I chose the 1911 because I can't afford a lot of .45ACP and 8rds at a time is a lot easier on the wallet than 14rds at a time." ~RNB65.

lol!

Let's see, I've got a Kimber Custom Classic (series 1) a Colt 1991 Commander and a Rock Island GI.

They are all GREAT guns in their own way. The RIA has got to be the best buy out there. Buy an XD and plop down $300 for one of these as well.

Easy one for me. I'd go with the XD. Best value for the money, and in my humble opinion and personal experience (2 1911s, 3 XDs), much more reliable.
