Greetings!

A LGS has a 1942 Husqvarna in very nice shape for $425. Its a code 1 barrel, 6.50 mm bore (shiny & bright) with the metal sighting table (not a sticker) attached to the butt stock. Its difficult to tell, but the bolt may have been forced matched, as the last two digits seem like they could be overstrikes on the knob. The weapon is import marked and comes with bayonet, scabard and ammo (unknown), and has the threaded muzzle cap.

What do you folks think?

I already have a very nice 1916 M96 full length example.

Thanks,

Hunter

This may be a bit of a historical item too, since I believe 1942 was the last year of production for this venerable line of rifles. The Swedes began switching to the the AG42 auto loader, there may of been more rifles assembled from existing parts in the M38 pattern but I don't think more receivers were made after that date.
IMHO

Husqvarna only made m38s for WWII demand, so they are less common and were built from the factory as carbines, not converted. IMO the factory built M38s are best of the swedish mausers.

Husqvarna made m/38 short rifles: ( Not Carbines which are the m/94s)

1941...28,634 rifles made
1942...38,781 rifles made
1943...13,264 short rifles made and 18,000 special run m/96 long rifles.
1944...1,6686 rifles made
