Bear in mind that Colt advised sending the gun back for review at the factory after firing 1,000 rounds of Plus P ammo. Steel frames were rated to 3,000 rounds before needing exam.

This is just for their small framed guns. I think the Official Police didn't need such inspections.

The Cobra is a GREAT lightweight carry piece. I would NOT use +P in it. They aren't making the Cobra anymore and most likely never will. I wouldn't beat up a nice cobra for a marginal increase in lethality. Use some highly regarded standard pressure ammunition and save the +P stuff for more expendable guns.

A Colt Agent(a Cobra with smaller factory grips). has been my daily carry for almost 40 years now. The gun was built for 158 gr lead at 800 fps. Plus P for a 2" barrel is more noise for little gain. You scored big time.

Very solid find at a hellof'a price! I saw a very similar Cobra from the 70's at a shop for right around $500, and thought THAT was worth the money.

By chance, did you check the timing? By that I mean, when you slowly...AND I MEAN SLOWLY!, cock back the hammer, does the drum fully rotate, or is there a final "click" when you check to see if it's all the way rotated?

Yes Woodchuck, the timing is perfect. Even when cocked slowly. I usually never buy a used revolver without personally inspecting it. But I took a chance because of the low price. Got lucky on this one!:D

Every now and then there is a gem of a deal that slips by on 'Broker , the kind the seller doesn't like. Way to go!

You stole it at that price! Good for you and good shooting. Load up some wadcutters, and seat them upside down. Don't need much velocity. If they fly straight (they don't always) so much the better, but when they hit they will either mushroom magnificently; or keyhole. Either way they do terrible damage to the bad guys.
