Hi folks. My debut here so hopefully I'm posting in the right place.

Got an old 22 short Beretta pistol. It's not for sale nor ever will be, I'm just curious if it's rare or unusual.

Most of my guns are classic or antique. Any ideas about this little pop gun? IMG_20190127_112656928.jpg IMG_20190127_112656928.jpg IMG_20190127_112614355.jpg IMG_20190127_112729142.jpg IMG_20190127_112750005.jpg IMG_20190127_112711138.jpg IMG_20190127_112711138.jpg

That's a Minx with the longer barrel?

The Minx is not common in my area but not much interest in it so you can get them inexpensively. I have 2, a 1964 made in Italy and a post 68 made in MD. Both, along with my Jet fire in 25, are the most reliable mouse guns I know of.

The long barrel ones like you have are not very common. IIRC Beretta made the gun available with the short and long barrel in the box. These are desirable to Beretta collectors.

What's desirable dictates the price and is dependent on the area.

FWIW I'd buy that Beretta if I found it for sale at a good price.

Ah, ok.
I sold my shotgun, 40 cal and one of my 22 pistols for a vehicle but still have the guns I won't part with. I'll pass all those to my son. My oldest is also a worthless antique. A 1901 Carl Gustaf 6.5-55 swedish Mauser. Some guy in the local armory offered me a whole whopping $75 for it. Ya my dad found it in europe during WWII so nope I don't think so. Why are ppl so quick to screw someone?

It looks like you've got a vintage Beretta Model 950 CC in .22 Short with a 4" barrel. It was also known as the Minx M4 and was introduced sometime in 1955 or 1956. The slide and barrel are steel while the frame was anodized aluminum. The longer barrel version is a bit more uncommon but probably wouldn't add that much value to the price of the gun.

It was banned from importation by the GCA 1968 so Beretta had them built here as the redesigned Model 950 B (in .25 ACP and .22 Short), and added a frame mounted thumb safety.

Wow it looks like I came to the right place. Got a black Apache nickle plated Remington nylon 66 dad gave me fifty years ago I just love. Only a 12 power Bushnell on it but I can make shotgun shells dance with it. I designed a reloading technique for it that I can load the 14 rounds thru the stock in a few seconds.
Guys thanks for the feedback. I'll have more ?? soon.

I will buy a Minx from anyone here or trade you something you might like from my large collection. I really really want one of those and the one shown is a nice old one ! A Beretta Minx and an Astra Camper are two I have not found locally in 30 years of keeping my eyes open. Found alot of other wierd things tho... :)

I bought the same basic pistol new back in 1987. Mine had the long barrel and looked like yours except mine did not have a medallion in the grips and also had a safety on the left side. Model 950BS .22 short. I gave it to my son years ago. He still has it.

It was actually fairly accurate and fun to shoot.

Gordon that's cool! I have no asthetic reason to keep this old pistol other than my mom owned it for as long as I remember. It's a one-owner. I have what I need as far as home protection goes although I'm looking for a 45. I keep it for sentimental value and our son has no interest in my guns so eventually they're going somewhere. I'd prefer this to go to someone who will carry it forward and not stash it away in some closet. I shoot my dad's Mauser a lot and even without a scope I'm deadly with it. Blackens my shoulder though. That suckers got a brass butt plate and it's not very forgiving.

Very cool old Beretta, but it appears to be missing the extractor?

Just kidding, it doesnt have one. Welcome aboard THR!

Yea I was wondering what the "safety" was but I suppose the barrel broke away serves as that. Mom worked for the sheriff's Dept and one of the deputy's used this to kill a Deer. It walked right up to him and he put a round in it's brain. My mom was PIZZED! Cops. Don't get me started on that.

Welcome to the zoo.

Yes, I liked. Would not mind having one of those today myself. I have mentioned before my Main Bud carried one of the short barreled ones everywhere for many years and I can never recall it not going bang when he pulled the trigger. I got to believe that extra barrel on yours has to help getting bullets where you want them to go

I've shot this gun before and I tell you now it's hard to even hit the ground with it. its that inaccurate

They aren't inaccurate just hard to shoot well due to the tiny sights and short sight radius.

After some sighted shots and using some Kentucky Windage I've been able to shoot about an 8" group at 25 yds which I think is pretty good considering what you have to work with.
