https://amgoa.org/Proposed-State-Gun-Legislation

US Congress

HB4080 would require firearms and ammunition to be locked up if anyone under 18 lives in the home or a prohibited person lives there

HB4081 is a full blown, mandatory firearm registry without no exceptions. Not only a registry but it requires a list 'specifying the identity of any person to whom, and any period of time during which, the firearm will be loaned to the person.'

It also requires a license from the Attorney General to own firearms, a required psychological evaluation before getting a license, training and an insurance policy.

It even requires a license from the AG to 'display an antique firearm' in ones own home! There are also 'special rules' for owning a so-called 'military style weapon'.

The bill also outlaws all ammunition .50 cal or greater and 'large capacity' magazines over 10 rounds.

It gives every gun owner 3 months from passage to register their firearms or face a $75,000 - $100,000 fine and imprisonment of not less than 10 years but no more than 15.

HB4082 is a universal background check bill

HB4199 is a feeble attempt to 'do something' about 'gun violence' by re-implementing programs that have already been implemented, and failed, by re-authorizing the CDC to study gun violence and by making more people that have sought treatment for mental health issues prohibited persons

SB2376 would make interstate gun trafficking 'more illegal' than it already is

https://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation

H.R. 4081 (sponsored by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Tex)) is every gun owner's worst nightmare. For all practical purposes, it would outlaw gun ownership in the U.S. Of course, it wouldn't eliminate guns. It would just make gun owners into criminals.

1. Every gun owner would have to get a may-issue, hard-to-obtain license. One of the requirements for the license would be an OK from a psychologist, which no psychologist would be willing to give. This license would be required even for antique guns. Another requirement is an interview with ex-spouses, who would have to give their OK. Also, at least 24 hours of approved training would be required for the license.
2. The license database would be open to the public, meaning that every gun owner would be the target for thefts, robberies, and worse.
3. Liability insurance would be required. But this is not really insurance; it's just an $800 annual "premium" that would be paid to the government.
4. A special permit would be required to "display" antique firearms. But elsewhere in the bill, it specifies that antique firearms have to be locked up in a safe. How can they be "displayed" if they are locked up in a safe?
5. Any magazine or feeding device of over ten rounds would be outlawed. No grandfathering.
6. The penalties for violations are truly draconian -- up to 40 years in prison plus a $250,000 fine. That's far worse than NFA violations today. They mean to put gun owners away for life.

That's just from a quick reading of the bill. Obviously this is not going anywhere politically. But it's an indication of the thinking of the antigunners. The masks have been dropped.

ETA: This isn't "gun control." It's outright cultural class warfare. Middle America, "flyover country," "rednecks," etc. have been targeted as the class enemies.

Yes absolutely. This way, once HB 4081 is whittled down drastically, we are left with very few new infringements:scrutiny:.

Obviously this is not going anywhere politically. But it's...

I would agree 10 or perhaps 20 years ago, but not now. Best to contact the electeds anyways, cannot hurt. Remain vigilant:thumbup:

The main reason I signed up for this forum was to express my appreciation for this thread. I know how much work this is. I know that sometimes when you're doing a labor of love you wonder whether anybody ever benefits from it, or whether anybody even notices. So I just wanted to say "thanks" and "keep up the good work". It is noticed and it does benefit.

Thanks, and yes sometimes we wonder why we bust our butts so hard when it 'seems' no one cares ... then others show they do ... thanks again

I'm not surprised by much of what I read above . . . except in Missouri.
Who's putting what in their water?

That list had me wondering as well, especially this -
