2019 Rifle Goals?

Ok how bout shooting the 7.7x58 I haven't touched in 2 years..... Actually I'll settle for cleaning the mildew off the stock.
With that kind of mentality you'd have never discovered that horrendous .250ai that's destined for a couple plains hunts........;) my goal is to acquire some of loonwulf's art, hopefully build a souped up 6.5 something, a fast twist 6-.284, a .270wsm, and a heavy target style .22-250 fast twist for missushorsey. And also get a couple scopes, and a new stock for ye Olde stw.

I'd like to add a lever gun to the stable this year. Maybe a Marlin Guide gun.
I'm also very interested in the Savage bolt in .280 AI.
I seriously doubt that I will get both of them this year though. I've got my sights set on a new revolver that will likely take priority over long guns.

I... am the only person on the forum who doesn't own an AR15.

2019 is going to be a busy and expensive year for me. Ideally, I'd like to pick up at least one good quality AR. I'm thinking Colt or better, 10+ good quality mags, and a few thousand rounds of 5.56. I'd also like to pick up some stripped receivers, and maybe get a couple braced pistols.

If it turns out that I can get to the range more often, I want another .22. I get tired of loading 10/22 magazines. I think I'd want something single shot or tube-mag, and with excellent sights. I'll find a load it likes, and buy a ridiculous quantity of it. It would be better to buy .22 ammo sooner than later, as I am concerned things might get silly once again in 2020.

I'm dreaming big for 2019, looking forward to a K&M M17S in .223, and maybe, just maybe I can make myself set enough aside for one of those ungodly expensive SMG FG42's. I very well may just keep dreaming on that last one, but its a nice dream. I ought to be more focused on shooting what I already have, but I'm still struggling with collectitis.

i got both those 7.7 jap barreled action i got to do something with. if dad had a live center for his south bend i would pick up to green mountain blanks, they are like 60 bucks.

I hope to actually get out to the range more often in 2019! Though I can't complain, because I got to spend this past summer fishing, hiking and camping with a great lady. Perhaps I can convince her to take that hunter safety course she's been talking about since I met her.

Also in the list, I hope to acquire a pistol caliber carbine of some sort for fun steel range plinking.

1500 yds!

This year I shoot a local LR "elimination" match that was from 300-1 mile. You had to get a hit on a 24" gong in 5rds before you could move back to the next distance. Trick was, due to how the targets were arrayed, you couldn't spot your misses. Our goal this year was pretty simple; no embarrassment and to make it to 1000. We had some practice sessions at my place, which only goes out to 760y. I had barreled my rifle earlier this year and my load seemed pretty solid. Well, I hit at 1200, but couldn't connect at 1500. Placed 16th out of 114 shooters.

2019 I want to make it to 1500.

Rebarrel and rechamber at least one of my Tikka M695’s. I’ve got a stainless in 270 that’s shot out and want a 280AI. I also have a CZ microaction that needs a barrel. I’m thinking 6mmTurbo.

Hardest goal to achieve will be to not buy another rifle.

One possible project for me would be to re-stock and resurrect an old family heirloom caplock. I have already had it bored and rifled by Hoyt. I have shot it, but it needs new triggers, and the stock is ancient and fragile.
Inam thinking of re-stocking it in the iron mounted Hawken style with curley maple. 20180503_205358.jpg
It already has new Medina Hawken style sights.

Ruger M77/44 or Ruger Gunsight Scout in 450bm

I'm struggling. I've always wanted a M77/44 but then Ruger went and threw a wrench into the plan and made the GSS in a 450bm. I dearly love the GSS platform, I have the .308 now.

I recently bought what MIGHT be a project gun.

I've got a nice R700, but it's not exactly a hunting rifle. So I went ahead and bought a Sporterized German Mauser that's supposedly 30-06 with a reciever peep sight. I'd like to confirm that it's actually 30-06, get some loads developed for it and get it shooting.

That sounds fun!

It literally was a "blast"! two day match; little guns; .223s, 6mms and 6.5s on SAT and the big guys; .30s, .338s, + on Sunday. It's called "Snipergeddon" and is held annually just outside of Kansas City, KS. Really, really, was well run. They shut down the range and road and shoot from a farmers fields across the road into the range area/backstop berm off of flatbed trailers (3).

I need to take stock of what I have. (no pun intended) Things get pushed to the back and gets forgotten. Get some more shooting and reloading in 2019. 2018 was not a good shooting year for me for multiple reasons.

This is what I’d like to get done

AR15 upper in 358 Yeti
AR10 upper in 45 Raptor
Henry single shot reamed to 30-30 AI
Finally get a barrel for my contender carbine
CMP M1 Garand
Lee Enfield
Rebarrel my savage again
Get a muzzle loader
Try a 3 gun match

I'm either going to build another 280 Ackley or a 6.5 280 Ackley.
I have the 280 reamer already so I will probably just go with it.
I was impressed with the recoil Vs performance in a hunting rifle.
