20ga Defensive Loads

Anyone loading 20ga defensive loads. I'd be interested in 00, 0, or #1 buck loads. If you have a good recipe for slugs that would be good too.


All commercial ammo is for hunting, and I can't find any buck bigger than #3.

The reason you won't find commercial 00 buck and other size heavy buckshot in 20ga is, because it won't fit.

There is no way to stack 00 buck in a 20ga hull and get enough of it in there.

The sizes loaded by the big manufactures are the sizes you can get enough of in a 20ga shell.

And if they are for hunting, like hunting deer for instance, they will work perfectly fine against a feeble little thin-skinned human for self-defense.

not so much sd but no.4 buck will hold tight and kill bost everything you want it to(man size not elephant)
